I recently started a thread in the sketchbook section and Im wondering if its the best place to get constructive critiques from experienced artists. I seems like many people use that section as more of a showcase of their sketches. It also moves so damn fast that my work often gets buried under threads. Im looking for more constructive advice on my studies and drawings because Im not at a level yet where I am showing my work as being aesthetically pleasing :) Would my sketchbook be better off in the Fine Arts, Studies and Discovery section?

the critique center (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=59) would welcome your work. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/ninjau1/grief3.gif

The sketchbook section is the only section for your sketchbook because... it's the sketchbook section :)

It's a good place to get broad, overall critiques. It's a place where people can see a piece of yours in context and give a critique based on your current direction. It isn't the place to get critiques on specific pieces. That's when you should probably take one or two of your pieces you want critique on and bring it into the critique section or the sketches section.

Thanks guys.. well I know the critique section is the place for individual works that I need help with, but I dump EVERYTHING I do into my sketchbook lol.. So I guess Im just looking for people to tell me whether or not im heading in the right direction with my studies, If im doing the right things, and get advice on what I could do to improve. If the Sbook section is the best place for that then I guess Im ok :)

The best option is to keep your sketchbook updated regularly to keep it from being buried... When I keep mine updated every day, with help from other's comments, it usually floats on the first page for most of the day.

The other thing that's really important is to comment and critique in other people's sketchbooks and threads. This will get your name out there and attract people to your sketchbook, as well as giving back to the community and participating actively in the wonderful thing known as CA.org!
