Hello!

Another newcomer on the forum, this time from The Netherlands.
Well what can I say, after a break for almost 5 years by now I recently picked up my wacom/sketch pencils again after stumbling upon this wonderfull site which got me inspired again. So I bought myself a couple of Massive Black video tutorials and started to learn the basics.
Since I've got no traditional training nor am I in the right environment that enables me to learn and develop myself within this field, I started this sketchbook in order to get some feedback and have nice conversations about art and what not.

First up are some drawings I've recently finished mostly from reference since I don't have the guts yet to step into the world of made up faces / figures / environments / etc.

This is a really good start on your sketchbook!. Your heads are looking good, especially considering your 5 year break. So does the color work on the environment.
Remember to update regularly and im sure that you will see progress.

About not having the gut to do imaginative work: just do it!

Cheers :)

Hello Fumble thank you for stopping by and the reply. I guess you are right about just doing it, but my foundation is just too weak and without the confidence I do not believe I can tackle that job at this point.

Some quick reference sketches I managed to do yesterday. Still thinking way too much....way way too much. Sigh...time will tell.

Greets.

Some new sketches from reference learning photoshop brushes, strokes, anatomy and what not. Also a test from my pencil sketchbook shot with a digital camera....
Next step is to do way way more in order to draw quicker.

Some new sketches I made some time ago.
Couple from observation and one from imagination. Productivity is slow.

Recently finished a model drawing workshop in my area. What bothered me was the lack of professionalism from both the instructor as the people attending the workshop. Asked around for any other workshops but unfortunately it seems there arent many.

Feedback much appreciated.

Let me tell you what: Some of your stuff is terrific. I was really amazed by that envirnmental study, and the drawings look great. Just try to see if you can make lots of figures and faces not as detail and not with clothes or stuff like that, but with everything in the right place sort of fast, if not, my advice is that you get into that before jumping to more complicated subjects. You have some stuff perfect and some stuff with some important differnce in the quality. It makes me wonder if you're paying attention to the right things. In any case, is better if you restrain your self to show the best of you, and show the actual you, as much as you can.
Again, your stuff is terrific, and you're very very good for your age, so, it's just a comment, see if it's usefull.

Thank U Lennon for your advice (spot on). I Followed your advice and worked on some quick anatomy studies from reference. Really enjoyed these. And a couple of Environment studies.

Wow, pretty amazing stuff. Those studies are amazing, perfect flow in the lines, really smooth. It seems that you´ve evolved a lot from the first post. I should´ve seen the changing occurring, but I didn´t. You shuted my ass, well done.
Your level is very professional.
Congratulations, keep posting and keep rocking.

Amazing and very sensitive stuff here. I also really dig your latest eow entry, it has a Magritte-like feel (several of your pieces do). Tricky combination of colors but you pulled it out really well. How did you design those branches? Great flow...
