Spartan Camp #91 - 50 gestures + Optional Study of "Hair"
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 14th of June.

- The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras.... You can draw full figures, but you can also go for heads, arms, eyes, or anything specific. All media can be used, both digital or traditional. Coloured or black/white. Quick scribbles or long studies. Imagination or referenced. Clothed or naked. Specifics are up to you!

- In addition to this, participants can choose to do an Optional Study of "Hair", in any media.
Additional notes on this weeks’ Optional Study: Any hair goes. For example, you can study some hair styles, hairy animals, colour studies, or different types of hair. Colour, medium, time frame, any specifics are up to you.

50 poses is a challenge, but don't stress yourself reaching it! Focus on drawing, as practicing is the main goal of this exercise.

Critting each other is highly encouraged!! Share constructive criticism, reference and resources!! Let's help each other get better!

:muscle: Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!! :muscle:

Hmm, no posts yet? Still the middle of the week, I guess.
I really love these challenges! It's a great way to get a bit of much needed practice in each week.
Half way there on this one so far, just a few more to go. Expect a complete post Thursday evening sometime (as I have work during the weekend :( )

Alright, here we go ...
Didn't get as far as I had hoped, only 33 total.
But it's still something.
Something is always better than nothing ;)

Hi guys, going through some really tough family issues right now. :-(

Don't know how many gestures I'll be doing for a while. Here are those I made in the beginning of the week:

Mindbendermind - Sorry to hear about the family issues, man, hope everything works out fine for you. Great post though, btw! I really love the free-flowing style you've got.

I guess mine are more "studies" rather than "gestures", huh? Didn't really think that one over, heh, oh well. :/

For now - here's mine. I'll add crits and perhaps my optional later on. Got tied up at the moment... Good job everyone, crits, replies, and a new topic will be there tomorrow!

well... I didn't do much. mainly very short posemaniacs poses.
I'm sorry I burden this nice activity topic with my crappy work (and bad shots).

maybe the simple reference drawing has no benefit for someone with unusually bad observation skills and memory.
even if I draw something by myself relatively well (some simple standing poses), maybe next time I will be totally clueless.
I feel if I have absolutely no knowledge about human anatomy. I haven't much indeed, but I do learned about it...

I will try a little harden before give up human drawing (and I'm not really interested in drawing other things). giving up my hobbies are something I suck even more at than drawing.

Zenobia; Hi and welcome! Your studies are totally fine. "Gestures" should not be taken too strictly. You're doing a good job focusing on the plains, getting a 3d feel, forming the shapes. Diverse and thorough studies. However somehow you do end up with odd proportions sometimes. For example; bottom right female, 2nd scan (big head+arms, but thin waist). See if you can get some 'guidelines' for yourself, on roughly how long or wide some parts should be. They do this in many anatomy books. Or you can keep reference nearby to remind you of 'correct anatomy'. And remember it's always a good idea to take some distance, look again, perhaps flip the image. Never loose track of the study 'as a whole', even when working on details! Just listing some general thoughts, not sure what would work best for you. Because you seem to have quite strong fundamentals. Great studies!
Mindbendermind; Sorry to hear that, completely understandable! See you soon again. Those two master studies are looking good by the way. I'm noticing the foreshortened leg of the girl, and the facial expressions especially. Nice going on the folds too. You seem to be struggling with long extremities like the arms, perhaps something to look into? :)
shiNIN; Heya shiNIN. You're not burdening anything. It's always nice to see different takes on the poses and different studies. I'm sure this thing is easy for some, but others (like me) just require a lot of practice too. Surely, most of the people around here have come a long way. You're doing nice on your studies. See how you can improve yourself the best. Perhaps you feel more comfortable with longer studies, or really quick ones. If you think something is not working, wonder why it is not. A while ago I had to realize myself I was simply copying reference without really learning anything. Make sure you are either having fun, or focusing on learning, preferably both!

Didn't get my hair study done after all, better next week. Next one's up!
