Hey all,
Just wanted to share a new piece with you, comments always appreciated!
Also, I bought a 21" Cintiq over a year ago and have been using it full-time, untill last week. I thought I enjoyed it but now I'm back to my tablet and, quite frankly, loving it so much that I don't think I will go back to painting on Cintiq. Now I'm just using it as a very expensive second screen, lol.
Am I crazy? :)
I guess it comes down to what's comfortable to you and what makes the work flow freely, with as little "technical distractions" as possible. I found I was too close to the screen and the painting when I worked on Cintiq, not to mention the annoying "screen switching" or using a tablet to get to my tools. It just slowed me down...
Anyone had a similar experience? Anyone tried Intuous 4?

Amazing painting!
I bought my 12'' Cintiq less than a month ago and I can't stop using it. It strikes me as odd that you would go back to the Intuos. :/
I have to admit though that the 12'' is just the perfect size for me. I think the 21'' would be too unwieldy and tiring. But then again I've always prefered to draw in up to A4 size anyway.
Again, excellent picture. :)

I like the loose style with the brushes.
maybe his pose could have been pushed a bit more,
so his appearance would be slightly more aggressive.
good work!

Great stuff. I like light in that picture, and movement is nicely captured. Cool. Show some more.

hey Goran, first off- nice pirate! Nice pose, and his jacket design is cool. I might suggest going a little easier on the highlights on his face, and adding a subtle bounce light from his shirt to the bottom of his head to help pop it off a bit.... Anyways - always enjoy your work man.
In terms of tablet vs cintiq, I have been finding the same thing lately. I picked up my tablet again sometime ago and found the more I use it the more i have been enjoying it. I think it comes down to speed and being able to see the whole screen with nothing in the way. That direct connection between your eye/brain and the screen does help it feel a little more fluid. I do find with the cintiq I have a tendency to noodle more than I should, and start to get fatigued with my image....the tablet helps keeps the strokes big loose and quick. I still love my cintiq and I often switch between it and my tablet...but yeah I definitely know what you mean. Interesting stuff.

APH: Thanks!
Evil Clown: Thanks! Yeah, perhaps his legs could be beefed up :)
Grue: Thanks! I think you're right, 12" Cintiq you can put in your lap, sit back and enjoy...
Botho81: Thanks! Good point, although I wanted him to be aggressive an graceful at the same time :)
Jok: Thanks!
Mandryk: Hey thanks Daryl! That's a good suggestion, I'll try that and see if it works better. As for Cintiq vs Tablet, you said it much better than I did:)...that's exactly what I'm thinking. I hope they will come up with a large, lightweight, wireless Cintiq that's not stationary, something that you don't have to hunch over and "hug" :). Then, maybe I'll go back to it. It's relieving that I'm not the only one who feels this way about it....
I might post this topic over at the lounge and see what ppl think...
Don Logan: Thanks!

awesome design. i just think you can just a little make the eye socket bit more rich in values just some value shift to give it feeling non empty-ness. great stuff.

so true description. "That direct connection between your eye/brain and the screen: epic statement.
i think with cintiq our and viewers expectations get s high that its done with cintiq you know and at the back of the mind it effects the quality. the point of getting failed strikes the head. its just a though but anything works as far as mind is free.

I had the same exact experience. The only difference was the size. I had a 12 and realized very quickly that I am just so much faster with the tablet. I may try again sometime since the 12 is just very small.

Sony: Thanks ! I tried elaborating on the eyes a bit but kinda like the "emptiness" it has now...like a ghost! :)
Jason Ross: Yeah, I hear ya. I think I would actually prefer working on a smaler cintiq cuz you can put it in your lap and paint.
Chupacabra: Hvala care! :)
I started a thread in "Wacom" section regarding Cintiq vs Intuous. For those interested you can check it out here http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=160166
Lots of good information already...
