Hiya friendo!

Sorry to hear you've had a bit of a rough start to 2012! I've already injured myself too and it's limited how long I've been able to work at art and be here on CA. So hopefully we both got the worst of it outa the way already and 212 will be a great one!!!

So I kept checking in and you hadn't updated for a while and then I look in now and BLAMO...lotza upadates.

So to comment on a few:

The sketches in #1736 are looking quite good. Your line quality looks great and the butts at the top right are really good!

In #1737 the portrait/sketches of the woman at the top left are really nicely done! And I really like the one at the bottom right here! (http://attachments.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1395336&d=1325880271)

I like the center Matchstick Girl panel best in #1738. I haven't done hardly any enviros...so I'll be of little help other than to offer my opinion.

And yes I like Mrs Plissken and her friends!! :) I'm a bit lazy about doing studies for characters...so it's good to see you working that out before going to "paint".

Looking forward to seeing more in 2012 my friend!

My57;
Rape is always possible, that is the point.
I am really happy if I managed to do my work
to be entertaining and fun. Actually I do studies
but a lot of them do not post here, cause they are just
the usual you know anatomy boring stuff. Instead
I try to put here my personal work and my own ideas.
I am very happy that you visited and that you
wrote me some words of encouragement. Cheers.

Liberty;
No problem, I like to visit your sketchbook
and to see your work. I know the arm is a bit
shorter maybe, but I did it without any reference
so I jacked it up a bit. But hey, she can do a lot
with her small hands. She is a true fire.
Thank you for visiting me again and
for supporting me.

Jeff;
Hey friend, glad to see you here again,
but at the same time I am sorry that you injured
yourself. I hope that you will get better as soon as possible.
Looks like there are periods where updates are very hard to
come by, and now suddenly a daze hits me and I have to update
a few days in a row. It’s better to stay active rather than being inactive.
Thank you for the detailed review and reply for my latest updates,
I really appreciate it. Always a big pleasure to see you in the house.
Thanks for the support buddy.

Hahas, yw! Glad to be part of the fun. Hmm, didnt mean the angle of he buildings. I kind of like that haphazord feeling of it. Just the hight of the char in front;I cant understand what she would be doing; too low for standing, too high for kneeling.

So I was thinking, your next project should be a re-enactment of the princes and the frog, hardcore version! I can see it now,... his guills to her cheek. Her breath coming faster as he mounts her classic frog style.. hu you'll have to excuse me :) I think I watched a bit too artistic anime tonight! Keep up the good work! And ive been wandering, Do you use ref for these faces?

there's always something interesting stirring up in your sb plissken :) i'm enjoying this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1395332&d=1325880126) page of studies. you are showing improvement with faces but still keep in mind the structure of the head. perhaps doing some more studies on planes of the face/head instead of just straight copying of faces (i have to do more of this too)? you can achieve far more depth i think. but, as always-- keep rocking :)

Hey Plissken!

It's been a real inspiration watching your SB all this time. I've been trying to dirty up my forms a lot more. I get stuck on that 8 Head Proportion thing and its been a pain to really force myself to think outside of the box. Seeing your daily sketches and all that jazz has really helped me in that department.

Hello there,

Sorry for not visiting your SB for some time. I've told you how the things are.

about the environment(#1738) Have to say i really like the lighting and the overall contrast between light and dark. Those brush effects are awesome and they really add to the piece. One thing i want to mention here is try adding some sharp highlights and subtle rim lighting on those figures and the statue. That will define the volume of those elements. Good work!

I'm going to disagree with VK. Those faces have features not aligned and the form of the head is flattened. It might sound weird to you, but I've found doing still lives helps a lot when coming to draw heads - you start to look at everything in 3D and not just the surface.

Reporting back to base, Lieutenant, sir! :yayca:

Hey, sorry I haven't visited for so long. I had a crappy internet connection during winter break, so I couldn't really do anything here on CA.

First, I wanted to share this to spread the word about deliberate practice: If You’re Busy, You’re Doing Something Wrong: The Surprisingly Relaxed Lives of Elite Achievers (http://calnewport.com/blog/2011/11/11/if-youre-busy-youre-doing-something-wrong-the-surprisingly-relaxed-lives-of-elite-achievers/). It's an interesting article.

Second, I really do like some of your progress here. For example, I think the environment silhouettes are strong. However, as much as I like your style and gritty characters, I think studying "weight" and basic muscle structures will help. Your female backside studies did fairly well to address this, but your female backside drawings from imagination. And I don't think Ms. Plissken needs folds around her abdomen because she's wearing a tight suit. It's odd because they read as big folds of her stomach.

Third, I highly recommend getting some books by Andrew Loomis. Since they're out of print now, there's still some e-book copies circulating around. I think you can find them here on this thread: Hundreds of Free E-books (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=131117) Loomis provides an example planar analysis of a human head. See below (it's from Drawing Heads and Hands):

Really loving all the improvement I'm seeing throughout your sb, you can see that you are getting much better, which is a good thing. I gotta say keep on doing those studies, but try to do much more life drawing, focus more on developing your anatomy. I also notice that your digital photo studies look much better than the rest of the other work you do. You should try to incorporate some of what you learn while doing those photo studies into your actual work. Push your boundaries of what you think you are capable of doing, get out of your comfort zone. Do drawings/paintings that are unique and different for you so it gives your brain a challenge. The way one can get better is by dedication and lots of practice, you have a good work ethic so just keep on truckin' and honing your skills. Try to test your limits of what you are capable as an artist. Keep up the good work. Never give up on this skillset.

Hi matey

I gotta agree with "jephyr X" on that image its one of my favourites too, I keep wondering what she is thinking about, and what the story is. Thats what makes a good image in my book, its one that stays with you in your mind and you follow on with it and try to solve the dilema of what you have seen.
Coo that was philosophical wasnt it !!?

Will;
I think that you would be definitely surprised
when you would saw what Mrs. Plissken can do.
We all would be surprised by her multitalented activities.
As a matter of fact, I could do much more than I am doing now.
The problem is that I am lazy, and lots of the time I am not motivated
enough. Either way, I am very glad that you visited and that
you encouraged me once more. Thanks buddy.

shiNIN;
Shy Ninja is in da house. Wiiiiii,
I am so happy. Thank you for being

Creusa;
Hey, what’s new in Rome?
Yes, most of the studies on the previous page are
from photos or movie screenshots.
Sometimes I do a straight copy of them
and sometimes I exaggerate some features
or stylize them. Thank you for visiting
my dear friend.

Julia;
I know she is creepy but she is good deep
inside her soul, and she just knows how
to satisfy ones needs. My intentions are that
I do not go with the mainstream. Maybe I
failed at that, but I am still trying. Thank you
very much for being here and for supporting me.

ashess;
Oh, now I understand what you mean. Yes,
that hooded person looks a bit strange on that
environment, she or he is a bit low. Looks
like he/she is crouching. I will have to fix that,
or if not, then they will surely think that it’s
a very short person. Re-enactment of the
Princess and the Frog; you see that is a very
good idea. My twisted imagination could bring
that to a very nasty level, hahaha. I definitely
like your idea and what you wrote. We could make
out something together, like the Grimm Brothers, and
we should make a massive sale out of our stories.
A brilliant idea!
I use references for my face drawings, mostly
googled up internet photos or I do some movie
screencaps. Thank you for dedicating the time
to visit here and to share your thoughts with me.
You are a very kind person.

Mike;
I will go bust some more head structure studies,
and will try to understand the planes. Glad that
you like some of the stuff and that you find it interesting.
You know me, so what else should I say. I can be
extreme from time to time, sorry because of that.
I would just like to thank you for being here with
me for such a long time Teapo my friend. I hope
that you are well also.

Ixallus;
I just do not know what to say. I am really happy and
I am feeling excited if I managed to help you in any aspect.
Thinking outside the box is something that we all should do.
And I know, they all chanting to do the daily studies and
the regular stuff, but I think that we should let things go
sometimes. Let our soul speak, instead our mind.
I appreciate your presence here my dear friend.

Kendall;
Hey there buddy. It’s great that you like
those head drawings, but I got critiqued
cause of the flatness. I think I will have to go
back to train some forms. Thank you for your
support and for helping me all the time.

Rafid;
My friend, you have refreshed my memory
and brought some old demons back. It seems just
like yesterday. When I did those paintings seems like
yesterday, but it passed 2 years. I am an emotional
person, so I get very nostalgic seeing these pieces.
Each of them hold a secret and the mark a very
special time in my life. Thank you. Thank you
for bringing me in this mind state my friend.
Sometimes with small things,
you can move mountains.

Where are you my man.
You ain’t updating your sketchbook anymore.
Why?
I rally appreciate your constant visits and your
support. Thanks for the enviro advices, I will
try to apply them. I hope that you will come
back and start to share your art once again.

j-ace;
Hello, yes one of those heads are the “Doc”

they are not done without refs, I used movie
screenshots to draw the faces. Thank you

Black Spot;
The heads are a bit flat, you are right.
I think I need more mileage and some
life drawings just as you suggested.
Being at life drawings, I did not do
any of those for a while.
Thank you for being here Mrs. Spot.

Jeff;
I feel a bit better than for New Years eve,
and I am happy that you are also 100 percent
well. So it is time for us to learn some more
and to challenge us with some new stuff.
I always appreciate your visits and you
support. Thank you my friend.

life with each and every post of yours. I do not know
how to thank you for that link that you shared with me.
I need to train more head plains you are right, and
I am not sure about Mrs. Plisskens abdomen suit,
it could be some neoprene diving suit material, and
she is too fit, you know what I mean, so there are some
wrinkles there. Well, what should I say, you are a real
angel showing up in the real time.
I will come to your wedding because of this.

tronrobot;

and there are some sweet memories from earlier.
The green lady that you highlighted, was a screenshot

I just do not like doing life drawings. They are boring.
Modified digital photo studies can be fun. I always try

for viewing the stuff. Cheers buddy.

LightShip;
Hi matey. The green female on that picture is thinking
about some horrible things. That painting is done from
some movie screencap, I am happy that you like it. Thank
you very much for being here and for elevating my morale.
Let’s drink some more beers now...

she got some sweet soul. Thank you for

Cheers.

Hello friends.
I hope that I find you all in good mood and health.
Sorry if I did some mistakes above in the reply section,
or if I accidentally forgot to reply to some of you.
It was too much to write, and I lack full concentration lately.
You are all real kind for coming here and for supporting me all the
time. In this post my dear friends, I will post this Submarine
Porthole that I did from imagination, where I have tried to
study material of a huge cold rusty steel. The Submarine
is out of the water in some dark hangar. I was very excited
to do it look like underwater, but I did not have the idea
how to do that, so it stays like in a dry version.
I used those circle mask stuff tools in Photoshop to create
accurate edges around the porthole.
I always had some phobia from large ships and submarines.
Diving under that big steel beast in a dark water. Scary scary stuff.
I have some more pencil works that I will scan and post pretty soon.
Cheers friends, and thanks for looking.

It is always hard to leave critique on such a well known sketchbook. I somehow feel like I should not do that, but otherwise, this might help you. Keep in mind, that I am not someone who likes to discourage anyone. I want everyone to become skilled.

You don't understand form fully. Really. I can see it in your faces and in your shading.

Try to draw from imagination whatever cartoon characters you like. Simplified, invented cartoon characters. Learn to shade a Super Mario like character from imagination, but not a more complicated realistic human body/face.

That is how I learned it. It is easier to understand light and shadow on a simplified figure like cartoon characters. Invent your own. But be as clean as possible. Study various poses and energetic movement. Solid symmetry and proportion is another key you have to learn. And you can also learn that with strong simplified cartoon characters. Look up someone like Jesse Smith to see what I mean.

That is how I got the hang of it, and it might be worth a try. Later you can go for the complicated stuff. The whole process takes you not longer than a few weeks/months.

cheers, acki

I see I have a lot to catch up on. I think your rendering and work with textures has gotten a lot better since I last trotted in to look at your work. As to what someone else mentioned about the flatness of faces and heads, I think more rigid and boring construction work on plain heads would probably help there.
As always full of imagination and fun to read. Love it.

You are right for sure. My problem is that most of

what a fine collection of ref heads you have there! I think I recognise quite a few already. the drawing of the lady looking down; bottom page of the page left above the refs is really good and almost sweet!
your asses are getting good. too. might need to study some feet though.

When studying from life or even a photo, switch off the part or your brain that tells you what your eyes are seeing, and give more room for perceiving what you see as an object in three dimensional space. Use linework to draw out the form, and fields of values to build the light, mass and form.
The comic was hilarious.
Keep it with the studies.

I'm going to agree with AckermannPhilip. When you draw a head or other body bits, imagine they're in a box. A head has four sides, draw them as if they do, not as a flat 2 dimensional rendering. If normal still lives don't interest you, do rat traps, hand cuffs, dead animals etc, anything but do it from life.

Super hero with small dick was amusing.

My comment will be much more serious and simple I wish but I'm tired at the moment. I think I've posted way too much on CA in the last days. Instead of drawing.
Nice variety. I like the sexy ass and legs in the first one, the curvy little houses, some faces, the two figure holding weapons... The painted one has a nice look but the belly is lit incorrectly if it's supposed to be a human. I could totally handle much more colorful stuff from you ;)
(the little story of Mr. super small dick hero was funny in the end ;) not for him though, I guess)

Those legs up there are awesome!

I really like the tower concepts - but maybe you can warp the brick texture a bit? So that it fits the ... roundness of the form, which usually bends backwards (if it's not a flat surface).
Right now, it seems to already follow the perspective (like we see it from a lower point of view), but the bricks are not going backwards. I hope you know what I mean, not really easy to explain in English...

The colors are really nice, I like the rusty atmosphere.

February 10th, 2012, 09:24 PM
when you try adding a textures to your artworks, that will allow you to paint on the
solid matter that help you to understand the light and shade in the right way .

The sketches goes on the right track . I like the smiling faces even have to add
more study on muscles of face. But I still like what you draw , because every
piece of your artwork show your feelings in right way .

keep it up again and again my good friend. " The Sex Master".

The tower doesn't have that much form and some of the shadows are weird. The texture of the bricks look pasted on. The light through the windows does not match the sky. Now go and make it in paper mache, paint it, light it properly and then draw it.

Meee BROTHER!!

I kinda meant your art has more of is more of a kindred spirit with crumb and Dali (yes Salvador) rather than your individual styles.

crumb does almost exclusively pen and ink. Check some of his schtuff here: crumb google image search (https://www.google.com/search?q=r+crumb&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&authuser=0&ei=WHo5T47IMcKsiQKRjdWEBg&biw=1600&bih=780&sei=Yno5T76wAeWaiQLkoKm8Bg).

Here's one (http://greensurrealism.pbworks.com/f/body.jpg) of many from Dali.

Both of them tackled all kinds of subjects many artists fear or shy away from...a lot of it highly sexually charged.

Thanks as always for your visits over my way...glad we can support each other...I'll def take you up on the burgers and beers some day...and yer welcome here anytime for the same and more!! :)

Lovin your latest pencils and that tower is REALLY cool! Are the bricks a texture? Either way it looks amazing!

It's nice to see you're still doing a lot of studies and mixing things up :D You're getting really good at textures! But perhaps push your light/shadow contrast on the tower a bit more, to give it a more round shape. I'm never good at pushing values myself tho, it's always easier said than done i guess :P But keep up the great work!

Lyraina;
I am still new into environment concepting, and I
was trying to achieve a more realistic effect with
wrapping that texture around the object. You noticed it right,
it does not really follow the curves of the object, and I was aware
of that, but I did not know how to fit it better. They say that you
have to use some 3D software to achieve the right results, so I
am far behind, I have to put my hands on some new tools and to
make things more realistic if I want to improve.
I want to thank you for being so kind to visit
and to share your opinion with me.

Rafid;
I am studying from time to time, faces, objects,
environments, I am totally in the game now. I want
to continue to improve, I do not want to quit.
Thank you for being here all the time, you
are one of the best support that I get lately.
Sex Master, hahaha, I like that title.

Black Spot;
But how? The light through the window does match
the background sky. The sky is on a different layer,
and if I make the tower layer to disappear, you will see the
sky has those color. Tricky thing, tricky thing. Either
way, I am aware of the mistakes that I made, so I will
aim to learn from them and to improve even more. Thank
you for helping me out all the time Mrs. Spot.

Lightship;
I do have a very strange brain, and sometimes
it’s real hard to live with that. But on the positive
side, there are some benefits. I am happy that you
like the mini comic, and even more happier that you
like the Red Outpost illustration. Well, it started like,
I wanted to do some environment painting, cause I did
those the less in my past, and I found my pencil page
with those tower and building designs, so I have chosen
that one to color and to render it. No special planning
in forth, just took it and painted it. I was thinking about the
tower, like it’s on a high tree, it’s a guard house, an outpost
the first line which will be hit, when the enemy attacks.
But it’s abandoned now for a few decades. That is the
story behind that painting. I have to keep the beer warm,
I know it sounds strange, but my body just cannot handle
cold fluids lately. I hope that you managed to get to the
fridge, and that you are drinking now. Thanks for
the encouraging words and for the cheerup mate.

I have tried the liquify thing in Photoshop earlier,
and it does not do the job for me. At least it’s not so
effective in the earlier version of PS. I am still using
the first Photoshop CS version. Maybe in the CS 4 or 5
it has some better options and abilities. About the
3D stuff, I just discovered Google Sketchup, it is
very light and easy to use. Try to download it, if
you need anything to do in 3D, it’s only 50MBytes.
The Necro Priest looks sad indeed, most probably
because the way the eyes slopes down and the
acid tears coming out. Thank you for revisiting

Hi that necro priest really made my day, expecially that first drawing. I feel incredible goodwill and generosity radiating from that smiling skull, like he is and old friend who is happy to see me after a long time, a really, really nice guy, when i see him he has bottle of wine under his capes and we will drink it in the deepening summer night sitting on beach, talking how life can take you trough unexpected ways into dark alley and fields of light, how you never can understand how after all you wanted to be and become you have came to be where you are, right now, here, spot of warmth and light in cold mathematical universe that holds no key for mysteries, neither cares for them and still-... still it makes sense, without words, understanding and mutual share beyond simple language of us pattern recognition apes. Faith, faith for nothing and for everything, yeah, the only way it can be, pass me that bottle brother, night is old but world is still young, barely taking steps into the universe, lonely football floating in a dark sea, humanity reaching for the edge and beyond, only thing keeping us straight the hope that someone, or something keeps the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, that i would talk with my necro friend, thanks LtPlissken this was a genuine pleasure!

Hey, sorry I didn't drop by earlier, been really inactive in this community for a while.

Anyway, the latest works are looking really moody as usual. I like the fact that you use sex in a way that is not necessarily blatant market strategy/attention hunt. It's got a real place in your world, alongside humour and grit.

Absolutely love the superhero comic that you posted. I kind of guessed what was coming, but was hoping for it to be a vagina instead. But I feel she should have given it a shot at least. Now she'll never know his erect length, what a waste.

Also, I like the atmosphere and mood you've got going on this (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1419646&d=1328900118) one. The orange really work wonders in that regard. I think that maybe a hint of perspective would've helped the form, but the silhouette on this one is quite iconic, so I'll let that slide.

And I see you've received a lot of comments on the necromancer. Strangely enough, I love the composition at this stage (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1424368&d=1329511163). The whole upside down thing really does it for me here. Maybe a bit of flying hair to boot? So you don't know whether gravity's working.

All in all, very moody, idiosyncratic work as usual. A real treat to go through your book, sir. Please keep sharing you art.

SaiVix;
Thank you for visiting my man.

Agnes;
I decided to try a new effect on her, so I faded,
her down part, but maybe you are right, maybe
I should not have done that. Now her soul is
fading just as her portrait does. Noooooo......
Thank you for being here and
for encouraging me my dear.

Nettle;
Well, that is a very interesting story about
the good ol’ necro priest, and you just made him to
come alive even more. Yeeah, you are right, he is
a good guy and he is a friendly type. Even if he takes
someone’s soul, he will not eat it up brutally, he will be
very gentle with it. He is always carrying a bottle of wine
and a few beers under his cape. That was just wonderful,
wonderful experience, reading through your lines, and
just as you said; The Night is old, but the World is still Young.
Thank you for sharing these extraordinaire thoughts,
they made me to feel better.

Ram;
My daily drawing schedule consist mainly
of 50 percent referenced stuff and 50 imaginary,
I am aiming to keep that, so drawing would not
become boring. Maybe I am mistaking, but that
is the most natural way that I feel currently.
Thank you for visiting and for
helping me all the time.

Jeff;
I would like to see you draw more big booty
huge breasted females, that surely makes me happy,
pleased and satisfied. The grey scale sweetheart that
I painted got that soft look in her eyes, cause she
saw a huge one. Thank you for traveling along.

Adrien;
Thank you brother, you are kind
for visiting me again.

Rafid;
More time spent on a painting or study,
the more details put into one, the more they
will shine, the more superfine they will look for sure,
you are right about that. I often ask mysel; is 10
hours too much for one painting? I am also working
on my skill of speed, so I could perform more
effectively in a shorter amount of time. I mean, we
do not have our whole life to put into only one painting.
Especially when it comes to concept art. You just need
to put the base concept down and to move on. Putting
too much details into some concepts can easily be a waste
of time. I am very happy that you started your animation
study and I am even more grateful that you shared those
happy moments with me. You are a true friend indeed,
and I want to thank you for all this kindness.

Ixallus;
It is very nice from you that you checked in,
thank you for your time and for the encouragement.

Lightship;
Yeees, I think that you are right, the Sweetheart
face does require a mermaid body. She’s just got
that face. A huge breasted mermaid, who can satisfy enough.
The guy behind her, holding a huge stiff rod. I very much
like that idea. Some nasty juicy shait will go down on da boat,
for sure. She is crying out of pleasure in the end. Thank
you for the sweet words mate, and go easy on the beer now...

SaiVix;
Bella is popping up below in her great pleasured
moments....

hu-ha;
Necro Priest is bad and ass at the same time.
You just look into their eyes. Heroes of Might and Magic,
Warcraft and Diablo, yeeeah, those were the good times,
I happily remember playing all those things. This necro
guy you posted is fantastic, and I like how his one winged
moustache is coming out from his nose. Thank you
for the visit and for the encouragement.

Dustin;
Thank you very much my friend.

Edward;
Yes, Pava-rotthy is our great friend,
happy that you like him, and thank you
for da visit.

Vritra;
Being inactive here is not a sin, so do not worry my friend,
we all use to take brakes, and it’s good for our health. You are
making a very reasonable reviews and replies, and you are a very
intelligent person. Sorry that I cannot compensate with such knowledge
and nice words as you did here. I am really trying, but my own mother language
is killing me also, not to talk about English. But you are gorgeous in every
aspect, and I praise the stars for letting us to meet. Every time I read your
replies, another box of amino fluidic acid jumps into my veins and I got
all pumped up and ready to draw and paint for another eighty six hours.
Thank you for being here and for helping me. No words will ever be
able to portray my appreciation.

Markus;
That suits me well. I feel great
because of the asspat. Thank you.
I will push things. Hard.

Will;
Thank you. Thank you. And thank
you once more.

Matej;
Good to know that, I feel the power
running through my veins. Thank you
for helping me out lately.

shiNIN;
I like the both versions of you.
I like you when you are long.
And I like you when you are short.
I like you in every aspect.

BlackSpot;
Just as Nettle said; “The night is old, but the
world is still young”, we are here to improve,
and our destiny is to improve. We have a faith,
we have a faith that will never die, and we will
never give up. Thank you for helping me
all the time Mrs. Spot.

Dart;
Thank you my friend.
Stick around, there will be some
more hotness here.

Hello every one. I hope that I found you all
in good mood and in a healthy condition.
A beautiful thing happened to me on 19th February this year,
and that was that I got a new friend and toy in my house;

1438816

New toy VS old toy;
1438818

I think that this was a huge step in
my digital art career, and I think that I really feel the power now.
I can feel it. And I can touch it. Cause this is my tablet now.

This is my tablet. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.
My tablet is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life.
Without me, my tablet is useless. Without my tablet, I am useless.
I must use my tablet true. I must draw and paint straighter than my enemy,
who is trying to be better than me. My tablet and myself are defenders of our country,
and we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of our lives.
So be it, until there is no enemy,but peace.
Amen

and here it is! and what an update. it's like a waterflood of art and work and goodies!
I feel like im getting swept away on the tide.. I'll talke this like I always do when there's too much to oversee. one little thing at the time.

:) well, dont worry about it, it's not that bad! anyway, you have to experiment right?
and experiments dont always turn out ok; that's why it's called an experiment.

the tablet- now THAT is a tablet! makes mine look old and jaded; but at least I have one close to as big.
everyone should have a big one. else you dont have space to draw!

then, you surprise me, and do a traditional art post! nice work on those rooms. only thing, it you're using ana-whatsing perspective, keep your vertical lines true vertical!

oi, that's all I have time for now. gotto get to work. adding more latorz!

aight, so where was I? the office room and then moving up to the other rooms, where you get more and more digital and structured. it's looking nice, the textures dripping and so strong in your style. the first ones still had those skewed lines, but as you take your drawings more and more to the digital realms all these lines become straight. it is, of course, the correct way. but still I find myself missing the skewed style of the traditional onces. the warped feel also suited the game (I imagine dino's wreak the place and eat everyone),; the blood and the gore. maybe you can do something to recapture that sence of warped ness. skewthe lines of monitors so they are no longer true rectangles but diamonds.

anyway, glad to see you're uploading again! I hope to see more from you soon!

Nice rooms... well the reception room is a bit odd, having "dirty" texture, smudged strokes - and that elegant floor.
But it was a nice tour, looking through your paintings, my favourite is the yard manager's office of course, with the blood and Mrs. Starchy's picture. They really help to create some atmosphere :D

Short comment this time around.

It's good to see you've got Intuos 4, it looks big, and just the kind of thing that will kick you in the butt and make you work harder. Also great to see you using Sketchup, I hear it's a powerful and user-friendly software, recommended by many pros. I have a small crit though.

When you're lighting your rooms, since you're using Sketchup and 3D effects, try using softer brushes, to give the lighting a more 'realistic' effect. I think right now the brush strokes in the lights are standing out a bit.

That's it from me this time I'm afraid. Will try and come back with something more substantial next time.

Lightship;
I was not eating and drinking for half
a year, just to buy my new toy. But it’s definitely worth it.
I am always happy to see you here matey,
thanks for the visit.

Agnes;
I was busy doing concepts and trying to evolve all the time,
so that is mainly the reason why I do not update so often.
The Intuos 4 is a huge tablet, and I had to reorganize a bit
my table space because of it. One needs time to get familiar
with it and to get use to it. A fantastic device it is for sure.
The room environmenting was a new thing for me, and I got
a feeling that I managed to learn a new skill and now I am a
bit more versatile. I hope that our learning days will never end
and I hope that we will never stop evolving. I want to thank you
for writing such a detailed review and recap of my work.
No words can show my true appreciation.

Ram;
More values would surely welcome in those room environments,
but I was just a bit short on time, and I thought that they will
do the job as they are now. There is never enough details in
a painting, but sometime we just have to stop, cause of time
limitations. The new intuos is a powerful tool, and I am still
getting use to it. And it makes me to want to paint more.
Thank you for helping me out all the time.

shiNINja;
You spotted the mistake with the reception room, I
have to admit you have the eye for things. Way to go.
And not just that. You have even noticed Mrs. Starchy
on the wall what the others did not most probably.
You are truly amazing, and my hats off to you.
Please come by anytime, you are always
very welcome here.

Kendall;
That’s a very brutal art style. And I like it!
Hahaha, thanks for sharing.

Jeff;

time we talked. I am trying to be in good spirit and in
good health lately. It’s not an easy mission to do so,
but I am struggling. I am happy that you like the Dino
Crisis concepts. I am learning and evolving a bit while doing
new challenges for the game remake. Thank you for showing

Thank you for the visit and for the advices.

concepting power of mine. Will work on more
realistic lighting and more realistic feeling.
Glad that you are here and active again.

I like that. Thank you for the cheerup mate.

Sushy;

here. You just brought some fresh new sunshine
into my life. Thank you for showing me some attention
and for encouraging me. Cheers.

Lightship;
Hi matey. Sorry for me being so long inactive,
actually I was here all the time, I just could not
gather up the strength to update. But now it’s

Danny;
Thank you for the reply, I am real happy to
see you. I am pretty new with these environments.
Do you think that If I would lower the eye level to
the horizon be better? I wanted this a bit above
perspective view, so that we could have a better
overview of the furniture and stuff in the room.

Long time no see...I apologized for being AWOL from the forum...I've been dealing with a lot of challenges that have kept me from posting 'round here.

It's great to hear then that you'd been drawing and painting almost daily too and that you shared 30 of them with us!

So on that note: Good ta see the pencils and studies in the first post....yer Magic Mayhem girl and Shaman both have a nice flow, volume and energy to them!

The Dino Crisis interiors are great! I'm partial to the generator room...and I really like everything in the "corridor" post...leaning towards those darkly lit, ones!

As for yer toilet games....has Wacom contacted you for licensing yet? :D

You're one of a kind sir! Thanks for the feedback over my way...when I'm able I'll update there...but unfortunately it might still be a bit...so we'll see. :(

OK !! so who amongst us is the 3D Guru?? you have been keeping secrets from your big fat friend in England!!

Those are real really good mate, I loved the one with the floor lighting that was brilliant matey and the corridoors are spankingly good too. Have a huge well done you clever man you !!

Keep an eye on the textures and the story tie in mate, the generator room is grungy and dirty, living quarters are clean-ish but lived in and lab areas sparkling clean getting textures right in these things is one of the hardest bits mate its a difficult balancing act to support the ongoing story and like I said hard to pull off but you are so up for it!

all the very best my mate.

hahah! oh I must 've somehow missed the veliraptor victims. just 2 legs and some balls keeping them together ^^
the colored raptor head is way cool btw. maybe make the pupil a bit sharper with some lights reflexion.
oh, and a toilet victim too. great. I somehow see the one with the guns who's going ýou must be wandering', that's gotto be Lara Croft!
from Tomb Raider. aha! it's her. it's GOT to be. they got her. they FINALLY got her!
sorry. I played that game too much as a kid :)
yeah, the witch an necromancer are great; just the witch, maybe the hem of her dress is a little thick. I dont know what material she should be wearing, but it's so thick now it looks like the hem of a wooly sweater. it attracks a lot of unwanted attendtion. just make the boobs the centerpoint allready ;)

the room concepts, I really like the army room, with the lights in the floor; eary feel.
the generator room espec the last render is great also. the soldiers room falls a lil flat somehow compared to those to.

LOL thanks for the exposure. I don't know if that was drawing-of-the-month worthy. But, it was pretty fun to work on.

Your SB has grown quite a community. There are a whole lot of consistent visitors here. I love the transition between your first pages and your last. I didn't get to look at all of them (60+ pages is a lot), but I can see some very nice work. Your self education has not been in vain, that's for sure.

Sin Eater;
I agree, the colored version of the Generator room is no good,
I ain’t like it either. The black and white environment is much
more believable and has its creepy charm. I really would like to
have more time for 3D art, and to focus on that just for a while,
but I have to do the traditionals and 2D also. Thank you for
visiting and for replying.

Matija;
Ako nista drugo makar sam uporan to si dobro primetio. Nekad zbog toga
so let your demons go.
BTW, dobar ti je novi sketchbook.
Hvala sto si posetio i sto me podrzavas.

shiNIN;
The velociraptor is something new in my drawing career,
I never liked to draw dinosaurs and dragons, so I did not really
enjoyed doing those, but what you have to do, you have to do.
Maybe some love between me and the raptor will be generated
after some time (hope so). Thank you for being here whenever
I need any suggestion or support.

Thomas;
Long time have not seen you, but I visited your book
and saw the mayhem that you did. Just as I said there,
you are a true inspiration for us all, and your traditional work
is amazing. I am happy that you find my paintings interesting,
I want to thank you for coming here and for sharing
your thoughts.

Alexander;
The LP Cult, haha, sounds nice. Well then,
welcome to my cult, you will always be welcome.
Grab your torch and enter the madhouse.
We will sacrifice a huge breasted one.
And the one on the toilet, definitely have to
change her diet and to implement some fibers,
very nicely said. Thank you for cheering me up.

Agnes;
I try to work hard, but still I am being lazy most of the times,
so I got a feeling that I am pushing myself only for around 50 or 60
percent from the full power and capacity. My new tablet is definitely
making me more motivated and is making me to paint more often.
I am very happy that you like the toilet-scene, I was enjoying painting it.
Thank you for your reply and for helping me all the time.

Mrs. Spot;
I am not the leader of the game project, but if I would,
my setup would start in that corridor. The first encounter
with a velociraptor would happen in that dark corridor.
Imagine this; the player is unequipped yet, have no weapons,
and he sees a velociraptor in the far away corner of the corridor,
and then the beast start rushing on and wants to rip the players
head off. All this is done in 1st person view. Then right on the middle
of the corridor, where you see that empty box, there should be a fire
axe. And the player have to get to the axe before the raptor, so he
could defend and to chop the creature to pieces. Otherwise he would
be a nasty brutal victim. I am glad that you like the environment,
thank you for the support.

Tim;
I am happy that you think that my art has improved,
that just proves that the time spent here on CA is a paying
off. You are improving also, and I am very satisfied after what
I saw in your sketchbook. Thank you for traveling along and
for supporting all the time.

Peter;
I am glad you like them my friend,
thank you for the reply and for the visit.
More experimenting with lighting and 3D
will follow in the future.

Jeff;
There is absolutely no need to apologize for the absence,
I am also often away, and we all have our everyday lives, and
we cannot hang all the time on this board, not that I wouldn’t want
that tho. I am trying to draw at least an hour daily and to paint digitally
the same amount of time. That is only two hours daily, but it’s more than
I did earlier, so it have to be an improvement. I feel happy that you like
the environments and the pencil drawings, I have tried to do my current
best on them. As for Wacom contacting me for licence, haha, yes they did
mail me. Thank you for, you know, for everything.

hu-ha;
This new tablet has even a bigger surface than a regular
A4 size. It’s just amazing, the feeling on working on it after
the old one, is like changing from a vacuum cleaner to a spaceship.
Thank you for da supp and for the kind words my friend.

Lightship;
A 3D guru you are my friend, and your recent
updates are so great, I just love to visit your work.
Big thanks once more for coming here, viewing and for writing
a reply. Glad that you like the environments, I saw that you
also started to do some cabins and shacks in your book, so
I recommend that you try Google Sketckup, it is very user
friendly and easy to use. Thanks for the tips about the interiors,
and thank you for being kind all the time. Cheers mate.

Agnes;
There are some horrible accidents on the velociraptor victim page.
Those are the soldiers that tried to tackle with some dinosaur kind
of creatures, and they learnt they lesson on the hard way. Especially
with that balls and legs one and the one which you think that is Lara Croft.
I like the Croft idea very much. It opens some new ideas in my sick head.
Ah, seeing her in various brutal situations, mangled by some beasts. Those
are some things that I should try to render in the future. You know, I have
played the first few parts of Tomb Raider also a lot. And I mean a lot.
Thank you for the tips about the necromancer and the witch, I think
that if I ever render some of those drawings, I will make the materials a bit
more realistic and clearer. Damn it’s so hard for me to create materials
with graphite pencil. Thank you for the detailed review, for the kind
words and for your honest thoughts. You are like an angel in my dusty
rusty old book.

SaiVix;
That drawing is pure gold that you let me to share here.
The people that are visiting my sketchbook regularly are like a team
members, and we work as a team. We share our thoughts and we
always return the favor of the reply, and maybe what’s the most
important is that we are trying to be active on this board
as much as possible. So many pages already in my book,
I think that time flies pretty fast by. Thank you for coming
here once again my friend, and thank you for viewing my art.

Rafid;
The mature experience was exactly what I was aiming for
with the combination of 2D and 3D stuff. Thank you for
visiting once again, and for motivating me to work
even harder. Cheers.

Adrien;
I like how Adolph is clapping there,
thank you for sharing, and for supporting
all the time.

Lyraina;
I would like to improve the quality of my
environments even more, thank you for the
positive words and encouragement my dear.
And yes, Evil Jack will visit you pretty soon.
At night. When you least expect it....

Edward;
Haha, they are far from epic, but I am
glad that you like them. Thanks.

Macska;
Thank you very much for visiting my dear.

Lightship;
I am doing a quest, a quest for finding an art job, I
am trying to get hired somehow, somewhere,
you know the story, everyone needs the money.
I am far from a star, I am just a bum, haha
that’s the truth. Thanks for coming here
and motivating me to do an update.

Nicky;
No problem for not visiting, I was also away too much,
but I am glad that you are here now, and that you
encouraged me with your kind words. Cheers my friend.

eclip-se;
Hahaha, Hero of the Day, I am happy that
you like that, thank you for the visit.

Lightship;
Oh man, you are definitely my strongest and most
active supporter, I have no words, I think that there
are no words for showing my gratitude.

orochi;
We lost contact with you for a while, but
you appeared now, you appeared in a bright
fashion, I am very happy my dear. I never
played Dino Crisis, but I have played Resident
Evil, so those two games are basically the same,
except that in Dino you have dinosauruses and
in ResEvil you have Zombies. I fancy more
the Zombie variation honestly. Shitslopsion
is going on, thank you for being here.

Star Eater;
Real Duke from NY is here once again.
I did those rooms in an isometric fashion, cause
I thought that it will be the most useful view for
the game designer and modeler. Just a hunch.
Thanks for the visit and for your input.

sutapa;
You were away too long. Too long my dear
friend. It’s good to see you back, I hope that
you will stay and will not go away again, cause
you know what I wrote in your book. Thank
you for coming here and for cheering me
up, cause a 24 carat gold is what you are.

JeremyGordon;
Thank you, glad you like some of them,
sorry for the late update.

yochachan;
Yeee, I was away too long, sorry cause of that.
Thank you for coming here and for viewing the stuff.

Lightship;
Sorry that I made you to climb all those sand dunes,
and that I left you without any beer so long, I will

Before writing or posting anything,
I would like to say sorry for letting you wait so much to see
some activity from me. I should have wrote something earlier,
even if I had no worthy updates to share. I left this place for
a few weeks. Oh, how irresponsible from me. I truly want
to apologize because of all this.
For those who were patient enough to wait and to come here
from time to time to support me and to view my drawings,
I want to thank you. I would really had no motivation
without all of you. I would not draw and paint if I could
not read all these kind words and replies that you wrote to me.
I am truly blessed for having such good friends around me.
Good times or bad times, you were always here to help me.
40 days roughly from my last update. I feel so ashamed,
I was neglecting art and this community for that time.
When I saw the large amount of the support and replies
I had no other choice, than to dig out some drawings
and paintings and to make a decent update. This will
turn into a daily job, I cannot let my friends down.
We have to work as a team, and we have to evolve
even more. I have tried to visit as many of sketchbooks
as I could. For those who did not get a reply and visited
my book, I will look to visit as soon as possible. Sorry
for not doing this all earlier.

A thought that came up in my mind first time in the last
three years, since I am posting here. I was like, “what
the hell am I doing here?” “I am too old for this thing”
I mean there are a lot of fresh new talents here with their
twenty three and twenty four years, and they look amazing,
so why am I doing this? I feel like I am intruding to a playground
which ain’t intended for me. Just a thought tho.

The most non-creative version of me is when I sit in the evening,
drink beer and browse the internet mindlessly. Doing nothing
useful. I hate myself in those times. Days and days
going by, doing nothing creative and useful.
Sometimes there is a question in the subconscious mind;
“should we stop doing art, and start watching movies and
spend our whole day on facebook? Is it time to join the
zombie nation? Cause it is much easier that way”

Anyway, I have to stop talking and put up what I have
to put up;

Aaah, so nice to see an update from you! :)
You really shouldn't worry about not updating for some time though,
or not drawing for that matter, everyone needs a break now and then.
CA is, after all, a place you should enjoy visiting and not something that
feels like a duty. Not that I'm not glad seeing you post new stuff though!

I feel caught now though, sitting here and browsing the internet drinking beer,
while you write about wasting time and drinking beer... but oh well.
We should drink one together one day!
It is normal to have doubts about the purpose of spending so much time
and energy without knowing what will come from it, I guess - at least it is
something I know very well myself. As well as the discouragement
that can come from seeing younger people draw and paint like gods,
and the phases of self-hatred. But you yourself have come so far,
you have such a unique art and style, you really should not overlook that!
It's not time for you to give up yet, going on now will be worth the trouble in
the long run. Allow yourself to take breaks and enjoy other things as well, though.

Now, to your art! It's nice to see you have been productive :)
So many interesting new design. Especially the weapons are so cool, I'd
love to own one or another in reality! If I had to choose, I think I would take
this one:

http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1474782

I also like Regina, she seems to be a real powerwoman, so confident and sexy
as she's standing there. She knows that nobody can hurt her.
I'd rather have her as a friend, than foe!
Those last animals are lovely too - you really are versatile, aren't you?
Environments, awesome armour concepts, humans, animals... is there something
you can't do? ;)

Where have you been all my life?
We should do it together one day, definitely.

you could not put that together better, I definitely like how
you think and I admire your positive attitude. Your kind

I am glad that you are back. Massive update. To your art: You can add stronger shadow and light to your digis, it'll look more 3D, you know. Playing in black and white will learn you how shadow and light work. You can try something from life too. It's up to you. Looking forward to next art.

Hi Dear,
I just loved your sword designs and helmet designs....fantastic metal look..neat work. You have got a good sense of B/W lighting... specially, Dino Crisis drawings. Shapes and Armour designs are very creatively done. Good going, friend. Wanna see more of them......

Don't worry about being away, mate. Everyone steps off from time to time. Just remember to get back on. You're really getting some depth in some of the heads you've been sketching up, and I'm rather impressed by the amount of ideas you have for helms and weaponry.

As ever, very amused by the amount of jubbly bits kicking about. Far more honest to draw what interests you rather than what people expect you to be politely interested in.

Hello there mate! I`m following your sb quietly all the time, but I just wanted to drop by and say something to you.

Don`t worry with taking time off, even though you cannot see it in this place, but I practice art everyday as I`m studying art in school as well as aside from school. It became my life, and I also just recently took a huge pause by sitting at home, and doing nothing usefull. After a while I got frustrated because I was not feeling comfortable somehow, and I couldn`t find the reason. That`s when it became clear to me that I should get up and grab a pencil or a brush or whatever. You recognize that you feel immediately feel comfortable, and you are actually enjoying the act of practicing or studying art again, and I became much more statisfied with my work, and actually my stuff became more creative. I realized that you really need to take a step back every once in a while, your mind needs it to comprehend everything again and reform your vision. It is the same as sleeping. You are resting, and that is necessary to take that next step you are fighting and working so hard for, and be able to proceed with a stronger will and state of mind.

Get up and take your sword,
you are needed on the front lines, warrior!!!!!

hey plissken! glad to see you updating man!
and as quirky as ever;
I doubt you'll be able to join the herd if you tried; they would spot you man. and turn on you... chickens can be nasty when they sense someone who is different. stay with us missfits here; it is much better!
your dino & pencil girls belong in the celestial titty bar, which is this weeks EOW challenge btw. and I like the weapon designs. do you use photoshop? I just found these custom brushes; on of them is Z-FX 100 glow. I think it's standard, but I might have downloaded it.. anyway, you should try it on the highlighted areas of the metal. it looks great.

Armors&weapons are looking awesome, I'd go with this set 1 (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1474787&d=1336239417)2 (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1474802&d=1336240230) to kill some zombies... Only suggestion I have - red colour as a background is pretty brutal, imo it could be a bit less intensive. These (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1474757&d=1336238276) charas have very nice colours.
Thanks for inspiration, never give up! Living dull life wont bring you fulfillment. I feel bad when I take breaks, sometimes it's hard to do anything, but seeing other people workin hard and getting nice comments is motivating. And also waiting for this feeling when you finally do something right, it's addictive :inject:

My comment will be kinda dry but I'm tired and can't express my true feelings.
Regina has a cute face but Rick's isn't even consistent.
Nice weapon and helmet variety. The refd animals looks cool, I should go back to that book...

Oh thank God!! you're back!

I cant take the world without a bit of insanity mate, I little dose of plissken and I am a happy bunny!
as to the work mate, good textures on the weapons, and the Armour is ok but have a look at the more extreme Maximilian stuff that was produced that could lead you down a new path. I love the skeleton guy and would love to see him in an environment just lose the leg irons he is much more menacing without them. Put him in a Victorian London type street scene with gas lighting and wisps of smog around the place so everyone is indistinct shapes, I think that would look seriously good my mate and worth the effort too.

Thanks for posting my mate its always good to see your stuff.

Hey Lieutenant, been a while.
I really like your Dino Crisis re-imaginings. The characters show good balance and much improvement overall. I think you could make Regina sexier by giving less emphasis to portraying her tits and ass, subtlety goes a long way and you want to focus on making the whole character look nice, not just certain parts. Do you have access to life drawing classes? If so I urge you to try it, great fun and so much information packed to such a simple exercise. I've also noticed your linework seems hacky and uncertain at places, doing stuff like drawing from life with a marker is good for picking up what is most important in portraying form, mass and etcetera. And I wouldn't consider age a problem in anything if you put your mind and body into it.

Also, this cracked me up.

Boobs :D I like em sketchup rooms of yours same for the necro-dude in the last post.
One question: Is it you on your "avatar" or how do you look like? I know it's a pretty irrelevant question, it's just that everytime I see you around on this site(which is pretty often) I wonder that, so now I took the courage to ask...hehe

stay bacon

Hey, sir, age is just a number! Don't let younger people get you down--think of it as a battle of the new you vs. old you, not you vs. everybody else! As long as you're improving and making your own kind of progress, you should be proud of yourself. Just keep on working hard and posting. :D

Hello Sir Plissken,

Remember me?? :)

I hope all is well in yer rockin' world!

You've been adding some tastiness to your sketchbook since my last visit ages ago!

The Dino Crisis character concepts are looking good...as are the
Unofficial Bitefight weapon concepts. It looks like you're really getting a handle on yer new Wacom. I'm partial to the first three and the last two weapons...and that axe is fantastic!

I'm digging the armor studies and glad to see you still doing some graphite's! Yes...they should not be neglected!!!

I love the looseness of the last 2 in #1928 (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3450759&postcount=1928)...I think those are inks? Yes? The last horse is a crack up! hahaha

Lotza tasty schtuff in the second group of pencils (#1932 (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3450818&postcount=1932)). The creepy guy paint is a solid character and good concept. I'd love to see that one fully painted.

Well, hope all is well...hopefully I can begin spending a little more time here...but prob'ly not as much as before. :(

Keep up the good work my friend!!!!

Ciao fer now

This is my tablet. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.
My tablet is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life.
Without me, my tablet is useless. Without my tablet, I am useless.
I must use my tablet true. I must draw and paint straighter than my enemy,
who is trying to be better than me. My tablet and myself are defenders of our country,
and we are the masters of our enemy, we are the saviors of our lives.
So be it, until there is no enemy,but peace.
Amen

Remember:

form follows content

software like the common used gfx is a restrictive frame and you have to see the limits which restrict. sometimes these frames have to be destroyed and to be questioned. if an artist like you begins to draw a piece at a table on a white piece of paper and realizes that he needs more space to communicate his ideas he has to pass the limits by drawing the rest of the whole idea on the table ! in the wacom or digital drawing software words:

tools = limited
tools in the software = frames in a kind of "a tool which was made for a particular result"

you'll learn and see, that the wacom AND the software have their limits. limits you'll don't like.

at this point: separate the wheat from the chaff
use the tools in other ways, don't accept the outer frame of the tablet. don't accept only the pen as an input appliance. draw beyond the digital.

I think you could do it. May the flow be with you and give you the power to see the limits. Otherwise you'll be one of the lamers who shows which tools he used in every piece.

Amen

By the additional post scriptum way: thanks for sharing your journey. It's a pleasure to see the growing, the achievment, the progress. As I mentioned in another thread of a guy, who thwarted his own progress by shooting only photographs instead of constant using of other materials: Don't stop growing!

I can smell the will and the intention. Keep the momentum going! Every fucking second as soon as you wake up. You'll achieve the level you want, if you don't accept the skill-limits.
