I am getting spots on my computer monitor. I don't eat or drink around it. It almost looks like some protective coat is peeling off the monitor. They are just small spots scattered all over the monitor like someone splashed something on it. Does anyone else get these? Not sure what they're called. Any way to prevent more of these spots from developing? The monitor is only 8 months old.

maybe you mean this stuff called "dust"?
It could be fly poo. No, seriously! In summer, when there are a lot of flies, I see it often. But the dots are really small.
Or - you may speak/sing too much infront of your monitor, so your saliva (spelling?) sticks to it.
When there are dots on my monitor they often come from my nose in winter :o

try washing it with a damp but not wet rag when its turned of, see if that helps.

you have to be careful what you use to clean your monitor, some cleaning products can damage the finish on the glass.
i find the best thing to use is either anti-static wipes (these are made specifically for cleaning monitors, keyboards etc) or one of those bits of cloth you get for cleaning the lenses on you glasses.

i use a soft cloth made for wiping glasses, and rubbing alchohol, works very well for cleaning

Yeah I was an idiot and used window cleaner to clean my monitor screen, now it has a permanent rainbow sheen on it. It's kinda trippy. Don't use window cleaner!:D

I guess it was just my spit. I'm surprised it flew that far to hit my monitor. Must be from all the cussing when I play my computer games.:D
Yea a damp rag with water worked fine for cleaning. Thanks.
Can you ever remove that rainbow sheen off from your monitor?
