hi everyone! i'm new here hello hello. decided to sign up cause i wanted some advice and this forum seemed like a good place to ask around!

i'm a student from singapore looking for art colleges to attend, and my focus is mostly on colleges in the states. i'll be entering a local art programme in fall, majoring in interactive media most likely, but i still want to consider overseas options for the experience and connections to the industry (that is sorely lacking where i live)

i've been doing all my basic research, looking at the better schools obviously. i'm not sure exactly what major would be best for me, but i'm considering fine art, film, interactive media (or anything to that effect like experience design), maybe experimental animation.

so far i know that Calarts has pretty strong fine art, film, and animation (obviously) programmes.

i was also considering interaction design at MICA.

SFAI's new genres sounded good to me too, but i found out that the school is facing quite a crisis with regards to tenured faculty being laid off. anyone have any comments on this? would it be a bad idea to apply to SFAI for fall 2010 cause of this?

i'm also REALLY interested in RISD (i know it's TOUGH to get into haha i'm not kidding myself) cause i like the whole vibe of the school, the location, their emphasis on out of the box ideas. but it's of concern to me that they aren't known for their film animation video course. (is this true?) so i don't know if paying for an education there would be worth it for that area of study. RISD is famous for its graphic design and textiles is that correct?

sorry for the wordiness, in summary my main question is: WHICH ART COLLEGES ARE FAMOUS FOR WHICH COURSES/MAJORS???

namely for film, experimental animation, and interactive media (more on the side of installation art, environment, experience design, RATHER than gaming.)

of course by "famous" i'm more concerned with the quality of education.

THANKS GUYS :D!!!! would help so much. coming from outside of the states i don't know all this insider information.
