Greetings. I've been lurking on your forums on and off for a few weeks now, and I must say I'm very impressed by the quality of artwork available here. I am Cholerae.
I'm currently a college student studying Multimedia and Communications technologies, but my main passion is drawing. Unfortunatly, time is always my enemy, so I don't have a lot of time to pursue my drawings. Hopefully by signing up here I'll force myself to make some more time available.
Now, to show you some of my more recent artwork, cuz, that's why we 're here right?

An as yet unpublished page for my webcomic Necropolis (I draw 3 of them, updated irregularly...). Pencil, ink, chinese ink and paintbrushes, 2 photoshop filters...

Something I whipped up half an hour ago. Just a sketch done entirely in photoshop using a wacom tablet. Trying to get my anatomy right, but I think some of the proportions are wrong... suggestions?
and finally:

A portrait of my girlfriend. Same technique as the comic above.
Right... I think this will suffice as an early introduction. I hope I posted this in the right forum though... if not, sorry.

Wow. Overwhelming feedback! j/k
Just wanna post some older stuff of mine, from around a year or so ago...

did these last summer for a game a friend of mine thought about making (but never materialised).

Did this around 2 years ago when I first got my pen tablet. Still think it's quite allright.

Small piece done experimenting with the airbrush tool. Plus lens flares. Done around a year ago.
Just to show you my progress I guess... working on some new stuff now.

Been surfing the forums and I did a few more sketches based on what I saw (and some from mind).
http://users.pandora.be/darkarts/conceptart/sketch2.jpg
The guy seen from behind is based on a sketch I saw in the "Hitchhiking..." thread. Everything else is from mind. A few eye studies.

Some more eye studies, got the idea from the "Hitchhiking..." thread.

Some head and proportion studies. Heads done from examples in the hitchhiking thread, proportions from mind. Plus some cartoonesque faces I put in as page filling.

Shouldn't this be under "Daily Sketchbooks"? :)
Some of your stuff is pretty good, although I would stay away from the webcomic, personally, before you can really nail down anatomy etc. It helps when drawing in that anime style to really know how and be able to draw realistically. I think the portrait of your girlfriend really shows that you may need some improvement of drawing what you see, not what you think you see.
I'll just critique the drawing of the girlfirend, as I think that's what you should work on.
It seems pretty good so far, there are just a few proportion errors. The eyes are way too big for the head (common mistake when transitioning from cartoon style to realistic style) the nose is less than just an outline, and you should try to block the planes out, from the planes on the face you can go into shade it, making it turn out really nicely. Right now, you are still using the cartoon shortcuts to simplify your drawings too much.
The shape of the head seems a little off, and ill defined. Also, with smiling, there is a lot that happens in the face...

Just by smiling you raise up your cheeks, tighten somme muscles in the side of your face, define your chin more, squinting of the eyes, and if its a BIG smile, the eyebrows and ears perk up a little :).
Now for the hair...
Every hair doesn't have to be one pencil mark, its a common mistake and many people do it.

Hair can be defined just by the highlights and shadows, not by every single hair.
Always, always, always have the eyes match up!! :) Also, it's hard to get the likeness of people down until you can just start drawing what you see.

Pretty good tutorial :))
Wow, this is a long entry. Sorry to tear that picture apart, I mean well :).
Cheers. :chug:

" Sorry to tear that picture apart, I mean well "
No problem, that's why I posted in this forum since I wanted some advice, glad someone finally replied.
And yes, I do seem to be suffering from an overly cartoonish drawing style. Trying to rectify...
