hey frank, really nice start to this sketchbook!
I like the monster thumbs (upper right is my favourite).
the landscape is looking pretty coól as well, I'd just give the sky some more love. maybe rework the contrast a bit or push the form of the clouds some more to give it a certain punch. looks a bit light and secondary so far although it's making up more than half of the picture.
looking forward to more, dude!

The landscape is lacking depth, maybe you can add more mountains, rivers or anything to make it richer. The value need work too, some parts are too light.:sungod:

The arm on the waving guy in the environment is seriously out of proprtion. It's too long and the arm is longer than the forearm by far.
Of the monsters, I think the one with the flail is the best. His design is the most appealing arrangement of shapes and lines of all of them. My two criticisms are that having a giant wide spike on the sheild would make it very awkward and difficult to hold and weild- a small spike is much more effective, and that they all need lighter values to make them more readable.
The storyboard looks good, but more detail and definition would certainly be useful, mostly because I can't keep track of the characters. Decide on a few identifying features for each of them and make them clear.

Monotony - Thanks! The sky does take up most of the image, yet it lacks the most detail. Great critique, I will remember that.
IIKII - Thanks! I need to work on my values..
Craz - Haha, his arm is pretty out of whack! Funny the things you don't notice until they are pointed out to you. I even flip the image a lot! Thanks for the feedback on the thumbs, I will have to focus on making them believable, but also the arrangement of shapes and lines, like you said. I feel the two on the right are the strongest. I will keep working on the storyboard too, great tips, thanks a lot!

Nice start on your sb , a good variety of subjects as well. Those monster thumbs are pretty cool, so is the 30 min digi sketch last posted, maybe render that out a bit more, just to see some more finished work. Keep up the good work.

Great artwork man!
Great job on the landscape. You are very good with colors.
Those portraits are also very good. Great job on the structure. To me it is the most difficult part.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers.

frozenbean - Thanks man. I was going all out on the fanciness, haha.
Hellfire - Thank you, I appreciate it!
BRINKMAN! - Thanks!
monstertree - Thanks man, and yes! You win! It is supposed to be Sylar. I just started watching heroes (almost done with season 1) and Sylar is a bad ass.

Working on a new character, possibly inspired by Hurricane DW entry? :P I think so, at least subconsciously.

I really enjoy the study of art. I'm not sure if I'm going about it the right way, but I love tackling problems in a logical manner, and the way I see things is beginning to change.
The more I learn, the more I realize there is to learn, if that makes sense...
New stuff!

cool new characters, Frank!
they all look really well proportioned and grounded. I mean the way they standin their surroundings looks believable.
maybe go a bit more crazy on the general costumedesigns sometime, they feel a bit too clean if I was to critique something. the guy with huge gun-arm was cool in that respect.
And I agree with Randis on the Lady on pink. :) sexy painting.
looking forward to more!
