Know any good noir artist?

I've been looking for good artist that draw and paint in the crime noir style. I googled and wolfram alphaed it but I got nothing so I thought I could ask here. I already know about Frank Miller and Glen Orbik but that's all I could find.

google Pulp magazines and a lot come up, some have not been added to the web due to the fact that all of this work was done before we had computers.. There is more now than when I looked just a year ago.. Some say who the artist is and some don't.
Amazon has some good books you can buy I have about 6 of them now because I had the same problem you did. My favorite is "PULP Culture", this book has hundreds of covers and most of the artist's names... including Miller and Glen Orbik. Some of the magazines didn't even list the artist...

Thanks I'll have to do that. I don't think there is a lot of pulp art out there. It's sad how many forms of art has died.

The Hard Case Crime (http://www.hardcasecrime.com/) series publishes reprints of old pulp/noir books along with new works in the genre, and packages them in the style of 50's paperbacks. They have a page on their cover artists here (http://www.hardcasecrime.com/books_bios.cgi?type=artists).

Perhaps also do a search on Robert McGinnis. There are many of his images about if you Google his name. He's one of the Hard Case artists that Elwell mentions, but his history goes back further. I have a ton of his images I can zip up for you if you like...

Also, remember that a lot of the Noir visual style came from Edward Hopper.

Holy cow, check out the rest of this guy's Flickr collection (http://www.flickr.com/photos/grrl8trax/). He's got a TON of old paperback covers, sorted into sets by publisher, author, artist, subject matter, and decade!

Seriously... wilhelm hammershoi is noirish and so's Andrew Wyeth, but not in the crime film big city noir type of way. Joseph Clement Coll and Saul Tepper did a lot of good noir stuff. You can also check out Krigstein's Master Race comic story. Steranko did some classic noir comic stories and images and so did Toth, Noel Sickles and Jordi Bernet. I really loved the Dieter Lumpen series from Heavy Metal by Ruben and Jorge. Frazetta's Came the Dawn story is noirish. Alex Raymond's Secret Agent X-9 is noirish. Anybody who did covers for the top crime pulps, Belarski, Rozen, Saunders, and especially on the covers of The Spider, The Shadow, The Avenger, and any pulp with the word Detective, Mystery, or Crime in it. Nowadays we have Glenn Orbik and there's some good noirish paintings in Arcadia Gallery in soho.

For comics, Eisner's Spirit work is noir as all get-out, especially in B&W, as is Jordi Bernet's work on Torpedo 1936 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torpedo_%28comics%29).

Robert Maguire (http://www.ramaguirecoverart.com/gallery_covers.php) is a favorite of mine. Also check out Rudolph Belarski (http://www.vintagepbks.com/belarskicovers.html) or Baumhofer (http://www.americanartarchives.com/baumhofer.htm). They covered all genres but you should find several good crime pulps in them.

Michael Lark (http://comicartfans.com/comic-artists/Michael_Lark.asp) has been doing some nice comic work on Daredevil for awhile now.
