THis is basically the progression Ive achieved with the Wacom since October. Pretty Rad stuff. The top environment is going in the portfolio as a "finished piece" and the rest are pretty much just experiments and studies. Any comments or crits are appreciated, so that I can learn for next time.

i would like to see a little(little) detail in the background sky, like clouds. very, VERY faint tho.

Did you use reference for the first one?

i think that the water looks a little flat in the background. try to add in a little detail but keep atmospheric perspective in mind

Barto: Thanks for the advice. Good call on the background. I agree it has lost the detail of clouds and stuff. Thanks

EvilChristoph: THe only reference i used for the environment shot was for the snake. It was pretty minimal. (hence the kinda inconsistancy of the scales) I will post my original sketch here as well. The grass and mountains etc were just sketched in with flat colours and then i just basically worked them until i thought that it looked right. - thanks for the feedback.

Ok, Ive done a couple revisions. I basically just screwed around with the clouds in the background, and tried to create a bit more shadow depth with the snake in the foreground. The colours are a bit screwed up i think, but for some reason it looks different on the web. I dunno. Im really about to give up on this sucker. I think its done now.
