So I've avoided making any new threads in the Lounge for awhile, but I just saw UP! and I don't see any other thread about it on here.

If you havn't seen it, you're missing out on possibly the best Disney/Pixar movie I've seen in a long time.

Everything that made classic Disney so awesome is in this movie. The music, the art direction, the story.

See the 3D version if you can, not only do the glasses make the movie even more awesome, they're great "man-cry" covers. Your ass is going to tear up during this movie.

I liked Wall-E just a little bit better, but this really was a fantastic movie.

Definitely one of Pixar's finest.

I'll pass; nothing personal, but I'm burned out with CGI movies. I'll still watch Ark (seriously overlooked), Toy Story, and the first two Shrek movies, though.

Agreed imo one of the best cg movies to come out yet
and i wish i had those glasses because my girlfriend started crying
and then the flood gates opened for me as well

Loved wall-e and this seemed to deliver a little bit more of every aspect
and i was deeply impressed by the quality of the animation

This is better than any of those movies. Shrek is like a wad of gum stuck to Up's shoe.

Truly amazing. I loved everything about it! In their top three in my opinion.

Up was a great movie. The montage in the beginning that showed Carl and Ellie's life together was a real tear-jerker. The overall theme of the movie was very inspiring.

I'm actually kind of glad they gave me the option to go without 3D.

Fantastic movie! As good as we've come to expect from Pixar, if not better.
Stuff I liked:
-Kevin mimicking Carl when Carl tells her to shoo. The bird's behavior overall was very entertaining.
-The dogs! Still behaving silly and doglike, even when they're trying to be tough. "Squirrel!" And the dogs playing poker. Ha!
-The old explorer's fossil room. Arsinoitherium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsinoitherium) finally made it into popular culture, so I am happy.
-The landscape design was pretty sweet. I love dynamic rockforms like that.
-My eyes were tearing up both at the end of the intro sequence, and at the end of the movie.
-I liked the fact that Russel's face got dirty and Carl grew some stubble as the movie went on.
In fact, the only negative thing I can say about the movie is that I could have done without all the inane Disney Channel and Cartoon Network ads that came before it. I'll have to remember not to get to the theater so early next time I watch a kiddy movie.:)
Actually, one more negative thing: the names Carl and Charles are too similar for two main characters, especially in a movie with a small cast like this.

And FightingSeraph- You'll miss out on this great movie just because it's CG? And yet you'll watch Shrek 2? That's silly.

I love this movie, probably my favorite animated movie so far. There are some points along the plot that are questionable, but you really don't notice until after the movie has ended. I took my parents along to watch it and my mom was really impressed too (she commented especially on how the cloth looked).

I think this has been the only movie to ever get me bawling within the first ten minutes.

Oh, and Partly Cloudy was great, too. :)

Incredible movie, as expected. Pixar's perfect record still stands. I still don't know if I liked it as much as Wall-E, but was close at the very least.

Also, I saw it in 3D and was quite impressed by how much that added to the atmosphere, especially in the rainy scenes. Glad to see that they don't need to throw in a bunch of "object flying toward your face at high speed" gimmicks now that every animated film is coming out in 3D.

Amazing movie. Consistent with everything Pixar has done. I thought about this a bit and had a discussion with some friends after seeing Up and now I think I know what makes Pixar films so great. Never have they even once attempted to be hip. No crappy, patronizing pop culture references. Just simple, barebones stories that don't drag along or mince words. I really do think it's a matter of them knowing how to develop strong characters and cut every bit of excess fat. They'll always be relevant and appealing.

I'm not usually one to watch a movie twice in theaters, I usually just wait till it comes out on DVD, but I just saw it again. First time was with friends, this time with the family.

There's just so much to this movie, the pacing of the story, the soundtrack. I got more into this time than I did the first.
