It always amazes me when people can paint so well with oils. It reminds me of the works of the old masters. So classical! And in all the digital art that blooms everywhere, it is nice to still see such classical techniques being used. Also, you show skill with the pencil. Smooth, yet firm lines.

Keep it up!

your rendering is way ahead of your drawing...it would do you good to focus more on getting the drawing correct before jumping into all that noodling, because otherwise you're just rendering turds....and despite how good your rendering is, it just won't cover up your drawing inaccuracies :P

I could have sworn those looks a little dumpy for a woman. Hehehehehe!!

Your shading is incredible, sense of tone and color, superb. I suddenly have an uncontrollable urge to get plaster casts but there's not any for sale here in ZA that I can find from just googling. Looks like I will have to mold one or two myself.

My mother in law might have a hard time figuring why I braught home a shop display mannakin so I guess it's time for some sculpey or something.

Hello! I really like your drawings, especially the painted one of the man, there's something about how the light hits his brow that really makes it for me. And your latest drawing portrait of the man, from your imagination, is splendid and beautiful, really expressive, I like how it's simple with hard spots of detail.

Nice oil paintings.. I like the hand piece. Kinda mysterious and somber at the same time. Make you wonder whose hands those are. Your sketches are awesome too but i feel you can increase the contrast and really clearly define your shades and lights.

I especially like the study of hands and one of the portrait drawings of a young girl with a large forehead. May be the forehead is slightly too big or it could be that you were looking down, but then the perspective overall would be a little different. But, regardless, very nice.

Hola Jon! Thanks for posting in my SB.
A lot of nice master studies. The J.S. Sargent back study is really nice, I've also copied that one. Learned a lot about nuance in line. And could actually feel my pencil going over muscles I was copying. Keep it up.

wow man...i really like the style you've developed. It kinda reminds me of the way i draw except you've developed your skills more than I have. I better keep drawing! lol
I don't really have anything to say that would help you, it seems you're aware of what you gotta do. hmmm...Well it would be awesome to see some perspective drawings/ architecture especially because of your drawing style. Anyways, keep up the good work, man. PEACE.

Excellent form, especially in the nose/eyes! Luscious eyelids made of graphite; crazy what we can do with sticks of dirt.

You're developing a really cool style, this is a great sketchbook to watch.

Good to see some master studies in here. Speking from experience though, you won't learn much by spending as little time on them as you are here. Get every nuance right. Push your self to convey the original artists intention. Get all the proportions right, look for subtleties in line/edge variety and get the value relationships right. I've said all this stuff before. Spend some time :)

And happy Holidays!
