After the great success of our previous visit here at ConceptArt.Org we have decided to return looking for an additional artist to add to our team.

At Surface Interval Clothing we are dedicated to creating designer clothing for diving enthusiasts while using designs that even non-divers appreciate.

The term "surface interval" is used to describe the amount of time a diver spends out of the water between two or more dives.

We are looking for an artist that would compliment the look and style of our current designs. Many of our designs have a grunge artstyle feel to them.

Current subjects of interest we are looking to have designs created for are cave diving, spear fishing, and mythical sea creatures.

Requirments:
- Ability to work independently.
- Take written/verbal direction for basic concepts.
- Work within moderate timelines.
- Ability to incorporate clothing design limitations into their artwork.
- Ability to incorporate provided materials on subject matter into the designs.
- Experience in the clothing industry -primarily designer t-shirts and accessories.
- Must have a portfolio containing examples of work pertaining to clothing designs.

Additional Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with scuba diving (Recreational and Technical)

The artist will be paid on a contractual basis per design. Once the initial concept sketch is approved payment will be made to the artist in the amount of 50% of the agreed rate with the remaining balance paid upon successful receipt of completed design using Paypal. All artwork must be delivered in psd format.

All commissioned artwork will become intellectual property of Surface Interval Clothing through a contractual agreement signed by the artist. The artist will retain the right to include the designs in their portfolio.

If you are interested in further details please send your resume and a link to your portfolio to artwork@SurfaceIntervalClothing.com

Thanks in advance.

As usual the response from conceptart.org has been great. We have been contacted by some very talented artists. The position is still open and we will be making a descision soon. We are looking for individuals that can visualize clothing as a canvas and have the ability to create unique and interesting designs with odd placments and minimal colors.

I thought I would describe an example of one of the concepts we are looking to have a design created from.

The concept is related to cave diving. The name of our collection of cave diving designs is "Rule of Thirds". More information on the meaning of this term can be found at wikipedia-Rule of Thirds(diving) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds_(diving)).

The concept is based around warning signs that divers encounter in most underwater cave systems that warn of the dangers in cave diving. There are several variations of these but most depict a grim reaper on the sign that display several dangers of cave diving in the form of text. We would like this incorporated into a apparel design.

The style we are targeting for our designs is a mixture of grunge and graphic artstyles. Very heavy on the vintage/grainy side.

Attached are example images of the conceptual elements described above.

Thanks in advance!

I love diving!
However, I have never designed clothing.

Out of curiosity, what format do these designs come in?
I would love to find out exactly how a shirt is designed. Do you open up a blank shirt template, draw over it, front and back, and save it as a jpeg and your done?

I kinda doubt it, since I have no idea how the design would be cut out of the Jpeg and applied to the shirt without the white borders and such

We have found an artist for the cave diving "Rule of Thirds" line.

We are still looking for an artist to work on our line that relates to spear fishing. The design theme elements we are looking for in this line are skulls, fish, rifles, and spears. The designs will also incorporate both Freediving and Open Circuit styles of spear fishing.

As with the rest of our clothing, our style has a vintage/grunge look. Similar to companies like Tapout, Affliction, Xtreme Couture, Smet, etc. You can view some of our existing designs at deviantart (http://www.surfaceintervalclothing.deviantart.com).

We are looking for 2 - 3 designs in the immediate future for this line. If you are interested in working for us please see the initial post in this thread.

Our latest design is an addition to our Ecosys line. These designs pertain to environmental issues in the world's oceans. The new release is "ByKatch" which relates to the destruction of untargeted species that get trapped in the fishing nets of commercial fisheries.

Commissioned Artists where ConceptArts very own Karolina Szafran and Newel Anderson.
