I was just curious to see what kind of music you all listen to while drawing/painting or creating art in general.
For me, I have to listen to some sort of music while producing art or my work will look like absolute rubbish. Something about the rhythm helps me concentrate.
To start off, here's some albums I normally listen to:
Aphex Twin - Select Ambient Works 85-92

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV

A Perfect Circle - thirteenth step

Tool - Lateralus

I enjoy Disturbed, Godsmack, Ozzy, and a few other rock bands with some Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, and others for flavor. I also like Scott Joplins "Maple Leaf Rag".
I'm a HUGE fan of Disturbed's - "Indestructible" because I'm an avid fan of Call of Duty 4.

I like listening to a bunch of different things. When painting, I like classical music or video game soundtracks. On the comp, I like listening to really stupid pop or rock songs that are kind of catchy...for some reason that gross music keeps me productive.
Like Evanescence...I can never listen to them but when I am drawing the noise just keeps me working and I'm not tempted to stop and listen to the music because it's awful.

Well I did a search and nothing turned up. :\
The mods can lock this thread or whatever.

Did you use the regular search only? All that one ever gives me is the threads that have the newest posts without even taking consideration of the keywords i enter...
So i use the advanced search only. With "music" and the search narrowed down to "thread titles only" you'd probably have found at least one or two of those threads Grief posted.

Oh man, I love talking about this. Atramental Ghost, your music you have listed is pretty much the same as me. Tool, all albums... really great to work too. I also love to listen to Juno Reactor and a lot of Orchestral soundtracks from movies. The Batman Begins and Dark Knight albums work really well for me.
Hey JJacks, Evanesence eh? I know exactly what you mean. Normally I feel a little embarrassed to own those CDs but I can see the merit in listening to them whilst painting.

These threads turn up usually once a month, either in this section or the Entertainment and Media, usually following the conspicuous death of the previous one. I agree with Max that they should be merged and stickied.
Anyway for me it all depends on the mood. I listen to calm folk (like Nick Drake) when I really need to concentrate, dark subject matter I go far gothy albums or if I'm low on creativity I listen to experimental music. (Like Captain Beefheart, which surprisingly helps.)

I ONLY LISTENZ TO ARTISTIC MUZIKS
In all seriousness it depends on what sort of mood I'm in. I don't really have any specifics when it comes to "drawing" music besides whatever can help to keep me focused. Gorillaz, Tool, NIN, World/Inferno, Mischief Brew, Black Sun Empire, Bad Robot, Corrupt Soulz, Royal Crown Revue, Juno Reactor, Infected Mushroom, Flogging Molly...the list goes on and on.
