The Sketchbook of Wiggs

Wow, I can't believe I've been on here for over a year and I'm finally getting around to creating a sketchbook. That being said I have been an advent watcher of some artists and am constantly roaming the forums, so I'm not new to the CA environment. :) A little about myself: I am working towards a job in illustration and concept art and will be applying to colleges at the end of '09. I am not afraid to spend days on end doing art work (as I had done last year over the summer) but cannot do so during the school year with the mountains of school work I receive. My questions do not concern if I already have a good start for where I want to go, but are focused more directly on: am I really in the right direction, am I applying myself enough, and how do I get farther. These concerns are some of the things I hope to find answers for as I work more and more in the coming months, and eventually years (I hope).

All personal information aside, I am proud to post my first sketchbook on CA!!

If you feel the reigns of unrestricted criticism in the palms of your hands then feel free put that power to work and crit my art! If you want to ask me questions concerning how I "do art", where I get inspiration, or if you're feeling friendly enough you may ask me how my day was I will be happy to respond to them! I accept and receive any and all amount of criticism and questions! :)

I apologize for the faintness of some of these images. The scanner I use is very crappy. I should be getting a newer, less crappy scanner soon. :)
These are also only some of my drawings. I'm beginning to find more time to sketch as the school year comes to a close (thank GOD!) and can only anxiously wait for the summer to finally arrive!

If anyone could help me attach an avatar image to my thread that would be much appreciated!! I am really clueless when it comes to being coding savvy. I think if I have one people would be more enticed to peep into my sketchbook if they see an image that looks interesting compared to a sketchbook that has not avatar. Not saying people won't look if I don't have an avatar. Obviously I've gotten some hits without one but I think psychologically more people would look if they see a picture of my work compared to having nothing. :)

yo this is very very cool. I love the caricatures, sooo cute. your life studies are great as well. male sure to keep doing those as well. as far as an attachment thread... there should be this little button that looks like and A with a link next to it...... press it and then it has a set of attachments file numbers, look through them and pick out the one you want to use as the avatar... I hope that I helps I just woke up so.... yeah I haven't had my coffee yet to get my two brain cells in motion yet. :D

post more more more, you have some great talent.

Thank you spaztastic! I am working more and more on real life drawings since those appear to be my worst strength yet so is anatomy. Thankfully I'm wrapping up the school year this week meaning I will have loads of time to draw and study! Yay!

So some newer stuff!

Sketches!! I began to work on some of the anatomy of the hand and I am playing a little with the side profiles of faces and what not. If anybody has any suggestions on how I can improve my anatomy (and I'll get to the whole body eventually :P) please throw what ever you have at me.

Besides the sketches and anatomy studies, there are some ink works! I really like ink because it gives me an excuse to not use my eraser. Which... is not really all that I great I suppose. I am an erasing king, but it's fun not being able to erase. It forces me to make something from my mistakes!! :D
