Hi, I'm an entertainments arts student at ccs in Detroit. I did these for my Intro to 3d class. I want to pursue 3d, and concept art, so I know I need some direction on the next step in improving the 3d work.
The last ones are from a project I just finished last night. This something that I did when I was practicing in maya. The whole design I just kind of made up as I was going along. This is up I ended up with. Also I was told to try new styles and genres so I tried something scfi and futuristic. I've called the spaceship "amethyst" I hope you enjoy!!
OLD PROJECTS, LOOK AT NEW POST POST PLZ !!!!

hiho,
did you have a limitation for the max. polygon count on the camera? because if not id definatly add some small edtails such as cuts going through the cameras bod (those sharp lines make it interesting) and add all sort of buttons and stuff :)
other than that it looks clean! but i dont really like the modern mechanical camera on this wooden style background, it doesnt really fit in there in my opinion.
same for the plane, model looks good, background looks kinda weird next to it :D
for the self portrait, you shoudl study you face with a pencil before modelign it in 3d
focus on the udnerlaying structure (mainly formed by the skull bones) this will help you create a more belieable form. atm it looks a bit lumpy.
i like the ships design but maybe the sky is a bit to colorful?
oh and it definatly needs some sharp lines, try to find a micture between soft flowing lines and hard lines.
it reminds me kinda of the ship in star wars episode 1. have a look at their design, you will find soft edges as well as some hard edges to give contrast!
keep practicing, i know maya is hard to get into :)
dont get frustrated by it!

NO, I there wasn't any limit on poly count because it was just are first project in class. We had about a week to compete it. So I love to add the details in my spear time!!! anyways the layout was just for showing the work in my review so I don't really need it now. Therefore I will design something new just to fit the camera. Also the plane happeneds to be inspired by starwars. The naboo cruiser that they escape in before they land on tatowen. And thanks I won't let Maya frustrate me!!!!!!

First I have a few sill renders from an landscape, I'm doing for an animation.
Second is a dodge viper I did for an class assignment. Lastly I have a pratice / fun thing I did, that I ended up calling the blues of darkness !!!

Lost Ruins W.I.P
I have only been working on this for about 5 hours, and still allot of work to do. I'm having a few issues, I can't seem to resolve:
1) The light coming thru the crack on the left side seems to be leaking thru some the geometry and i can't figure out why.
2) The trees are way to dense in geometry. I had converted the trees from paint effects to polygons and it seems to happened even though I fiddle around in the settings when I convert the trees. I might end just making the trees from scratch.
Oh yes, I'm not quite sure what the standard poly count for environments are, I have the feeling that mine is way to high.
