For the last few years I have been using directNIC to do my website domain name and hosting but now I don't have enough space for what I want to do, directnic gives you 20MB for $15 a year, anyway I stumbled onto these new guys at www.1and1.com and this deal just seemed too good to be true, they are saying something about giving you 500MB free for three years? And it says there is no catch. Only $6 to transfer your domain. Has anyone used these guys or heard anything about this deal? It sounds too good to be true, there has to be a catch right?

Perfectly legit and a heck of a deal. I've been using them for a while now, great host (although the cpanel can get a bit slow).

thanks silvir, I just wanted to make sure at least someone had tried it and not gotten screwed, I'll have to sign up now. 500MB! That's a ton of space! I could do a lot with that much free space...

I´m using the german division http:/www.1und1.de for some time now and they are a completely legit firm with good capabilities, good performance and really good prices. Even had my DSL-account by them.
I just can recommend them.

Yeah, I signed up for 1and1's free hosting a few months ago. No problems here. Always up and running fine, although I odn't really use much of it. Tech support is limited to email for non-paying users, but its not really that big of a deal, they reply through email very fast...
