Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any good, inexpensive foundation or illustration programs in the bay area, specifically around San Jose (they don't have to be universities, continuing education or art centers would work too). I've recently discovered atliers, but the only one I know of in my area is the 'Atelier School of Classical Realism' in Oakland. (Has anyone heard of this atlier? Is it any good?)

If possible I'd like to find a school in the south bay, closer to San Jose. I know that San Jose State is suppose to have a good illustration program but they are not accepting undergrads seeking a second degree and I don't think I'd get into the grad program.

I've been mostly self-taught up to know, but I think I'll need some more formal instruction to progress any further.

I've also been thinking about moving up to Seattle so any programs in that area would also be helpful.

Thanks for any help you are able to give.
Julia

Check out the Approved Atelier Listing over at the Art Renewal Center Website: link (http://www.artrenewal.org/asp/database/atelier_list.asp)

And for what it's worth, the 'Atelier School of Classical Realism' in Oakland you've mentioned does have recognition as an approved school from Art Renewal Center.

Hope this helps.

and one of the main teachers David Hardy, is considered a "living master" on the Art renewal website. Another thing to check out is andrew ameral http://www.ameralart.com/ he is teaching classes in oakland too, pretty intensive classical stuff similar to the Atelier School of Classical Realism.
