View Full Version : How do I make an Audio Cut in After Effects?

How do I cross-fade one audio track to another in After Effects? I'm especially interested in cutting from 'room tone' to 'room tone' without a drop or rise in volume during the transition.
I have Sound Forge. I'm looking for an AE workflow for this (if one exists)

I downloaded some pink noise (http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=61207) from freesound.org and tried some tests.
* Overlaps with fades gave me me volume drops in the transition.
* Overlaps without fades gave me volume jumps in the transition.
* A simple end-to-end butt splice sounded seamless. No pop, even.
So for screencasting (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=digitalArtform&view=videos), that's good enough for me.
