Dile and I came up with the cool idea over bitching about our sketchbooks, we decided to make a race to 100 pages on a new sketchbook. Here is my first post, hopefully I will be able to look at this post 3,000 posts later and laugh.
Some sketches of a vehicle made of recycled material.

Interesting idea, but guys don't make only for quantity it woun't take you anywhere... Quality is much more important i think.
Although good luck in race :)
BTW, machine looks interesting.

Mr.Juicy Thanks man, I personally am not concentrating on quantity per se. Its more of me trying to push myself to post more consistently.
a la bapsi yaaaaay.
Worked out some silhouettes that I'm much happier with the ideas from the previous post.

explore more with the lighting... think of gradients.. and your lightsource :) the study looks good man! use bigger brushes to avoid 'pixels' in the end.. :)

nice pics, however is it fair to have RACE to 100 in your title?

Nice idea. I like the forest ref study and that rickshaw concept.
Just watch out so that it won't turn into quantity over quality race. Sometimes it's better to sit longer on one piece than do ten quick ones.
Cheers.

hey good going :] focus more on your 'elements'.. make them work well together and figure out your focal point...;) its easy to get that 'digital look' if you keep everything sharp and round ya know.. :] so have fun with edges too

Finished with this one, not as happy with the final product as I was with some of the wips.

In Last wip colors was better I think.
And what about last pic - i think there is lack of scale feeling. Em, nearest zeppelin is way to small i think and it has same contrast as things that are in first plan.
Keep showing stuff!

So this is what I have been working on for the past week and I have a sort of love/hate relationship with this. I'm happy with my first impression glance at it I suppose but I'm not happy with how it was made I suppose. The process I used to make this piece was very, unorthodox I suppose and I feel like it leaves me a brick wall as far as making the piece progress. I would love to keep working on it but I feel like it is just too far gone, I actually think I may redraw it and rework it from the ground up. I will post my progress.

Great job painting the victim in the last one. He looks totally scorched. Some darker values around the eruptions and/or some more saturation inside them would make the environment feel lot more fiery.

Thanks for checking my sketchbook out-I like all of your creature designs here!
I would take a look at the WIP in black and white. Make sure the whole thing is tonally working. The design is nice and creepy though!

Sirkenneth Thanks kenneth, I added a B/W adjustments layer to check over my values, hope it worked :X
jocky As a beginner you should be critiquing as much as you can so you can analyze what other people are doing don't be scared.
MuGen'arto Thanks! Glad to have helped.
It's done. I am teetering on working on it more and I could make the piece look better as an illustration but I kind of got lost in the fact that it's not supposed to be an illustration so much as an orthographic view of a concept. I got a little too caught up with the background (which I told myself not to do). Anyways I'd love some c&c on this piece, I'm back and forth on it. Cheers.

hey man, looks pretty good! as i said on msn, watchout for scewed polys and tris, they tend to fuck things up when modelling , and a mesh looks cleaner without them.
if you can avoid tris, do it.
the speedelapse is cool too, i really dig the forms half way thru, in the end there is a lot of hues and it feels a little \messy\ .. anyways keep it up man!

do moreeeeee! =)
and study edges dude! The value ranges you work with aren't really necessary if you think about it, You can use two values for some of the things you use 3-4 if you think more about your edges. keep it up

I'm a bit farther than this wip indicates, working on adding more blues to the shadows and getting atmospheric perspective to be cool.

Hey Ethan,
So I'm passing by, checking out your sketchbook and reading your blog and I have to say I am just impressed! You really do have the style and work ethic I want to achieve with my artwork. Do you think you could look through my sketchbook and give me some pointers and an idea of things I need to work on? I really want to improve and I'd appreciate your feedback.
