Try using fully hard edged brushed with 55-70% opacity to make confident strokes.

I definitely see clouds, and the water below is reflecting the dark blue sky.
But the black mountains suck up all the light and reflect nothing back.
Or are they matte black trees. Evil and un-forgiving. Like blackholes.

The sun brings warmth above the cloud canopy. Life giving. Makes me blush.
[O wait, is this a picture of a skull?]

Look up squinting technique when you get the chance along your studies.
I first read it from Richard Schmidt but a Google link dodges me.
