haven't drawn anything in a while, but trying to have some fun - I am imagining here a pretty traditional terminator-esque robot, but he is wearing a glassy helmet and shoulderpad-things - had some idea they might be lenses to project holographic false images or to cloak him or something, I dunno - I like helmets lol

Well its been a long ass time since Ive done the dsg. I took a few minutes to think of what I might do. What would be something they would make, how would it look, what would the function be. I decided to go with a burrowing robot. I figured since skynet is practically life imitating life it would figure out how to burrow based on what it could find in the world. The purpose is to find, identify, and possibly terminate and human bases it finds underground. I like the idea of the new terminator movie how john connor shoots the terminator in the head so i did the same sort of scene.

I like yours caldfir. reminds me of a marvel character too.

Man I can't wait for the new film.

So I thought... what is the most terrifying thing next to the terminator? ... Oh! Ronald McDonald of course! :D This was fun. Took about an hour... maybe a little more for color tweaking. I used a reference photo of Ernest Hemingway holding a shotgun.

Haven't messed about in Photoshop recently, so it's good to not get too rusty. I think my monitor's calibrated a bit too dark, so this image might appear too light to some. Oh well.

Death and destruction plagued the planet where the FLAME BOT was unleashed...
hehe

Did this one in photoshop.with my mouse(cos i dont have a tablet---a lament i have raised loads of times on this site)

This dude was a lotta fun to draw, though he ended up a bit cartoony Took something close to 2 hrs.

I really like yours Sunny-nice concept --- really like the way the giant burrowing creature has a terminator-esque face. Cool

And your gun-faced Dog Bot is pretty cool too William.

And great stuff all- kudos

Hi,

I´m new to conceptart, so this is my first post. Hope to have a good time here ;-).

Now here is my attempt - the new Skynet Snake:

well ONE of those isn´t much of a problem, two aren´t either - but have you tried to cope with thousands?

(*lol* I´m horrible with robots - they look always the same when I try to draw one... )

Cybernetic kid with gun...Would be effective in striking fear and demoralising the human opposition(you'd hesitate in shooting a kid, right?). Due to their size, they are also effectively faster and more maneuverable than you usual t-800 model.

William, great, the bleu part looks very clear but around the head it gets a bit messy.
Trudy, nice, it looks like its coming from a terminator movie.
Tokuku, nice traditional design, the head feels too friendly for my taste.
Good job everyone.

Skynet has taken it to a whole new level!

An unseen enemy.

A disease that turns organic human to mechanical metal.

WilliamHand: The dog blows me away. Everything you do reminds me somehow of Hounds of Tindalos. It also looks like you did it with about five strokes and extreme panache-- stroke economy is something that completely escapes me.

Am I the only one expecting the new terminator film to be a disappointment?

For one thing it's PG-13, NEVER a good sign. I'll wait until it's in the dollar theatres.

I really like this topic, made me a lot more interested in practicing rendering metal surfaces! And it inspired a lot of daydreaming. Killed boredom at work.

The baby mech rocks and I get shivers imagining how the robo cannines would look like in the movie!

I'm pretty sure Christian Bale would do a good job.

Strela
May 18th, 2009, 10:59 PM
Hey William, did you use a palette-knife like brush on pressure opacity to paint those images? Very interesting technique for the metal on that last one, it almost looks like a kitbash-- each individual part is very well rendered.

I think I'm going to do another one tonight as well.

Not sure how well that one worked. Something about it that I don't like. Oh well.

Oh man I hate drawing robots, let alone painting them, so I tried the assignment. I already knew it was one of the things I need practice in, so here is the start. Next time I will definitely use reference for colors. I usually do, you can tell I didn't.
Was playing with brachna's brush set. Probably not the best brushes to start painting metal with, but hell I had fun.

Here's my idea. I had a few minutes...
Ask yourself , what self respecting soldier wouldn't go pick up a defenceless little baby crying for it's mother on the battlefield?
Of course...this one comes with a surprise. As well as a homing beacon it is an incendiary device!

I really like a lot of these entries, there's some good artists in here.

Here's my entry, figured since it's called "Skynet" that there should be a tethered city-eating weapons platform extending from an unseen orbiting satelite.

So I really just tried to put a cap on this. I lost alot of time just trying to piece together a concept.
30 minutes.

I figured this design would be a less personal attacker. Most terminators I have seen (Sara Connor TV) do a whole lot of hand to hand stuff. Anyways in the end it just looked like another ninja.
