i liked it... not really laughing

oh Kingshaj, you missed the joke. German-S finds the fact that there is another person in the world with the name Jason Manley, who pursues the same profession,an amusing cooincedence.

I'm sure German-S would never be so rude as to imply that the quality/value of an artists work when compared to another is grounds to laugh.

Rock on!

German-s
May 14th, 2009, 02:10 PM
lol, yes. I do not mean to imply any rudeness or disrespect to a fellow artist... just thought it was a funny coincidence. I would be equally as amused if there was another German Shible out there who fancies to draw. Not as likely but still kinda funny!

May 14th, 2009, 02:21 PM
Hehehe... That´s a nice coincidence, for sure. It kinda happened to me, when i was thinking of registering my last name as a domain, ranna.com , and found out there is an artist out there whose first name is Ranna...

And i tought my name was kinda rare...

This Jason Manley over there is going to have some serious hits on his analytics now, hehehe....

kingshaj

i did indeed misunderstand,
i stand corrected...:) sorry if i came across rude.
i may have been a bit oversensitive becuase of the anti abstraction threads around here.

---

it is a bit funny in that light, small world...
i have a Christian evangelist and an R&B singer that share my name. :)

Myself, with a last name like Trego-Erdner, I seem destined to be the only one of my kind.

There are only a dozen people living on this planet with my last name, and I've met them all. That said, the only other one with a name resembling "Chris" is my great aunt Christa, and she's also the only real artist in the family. She sells hand-painted canes and hiking staffs here (http://www.crowsticks.com/).

There are dozens of Michael Cross clones out there. A cursory search on Yahoo or Google turns up a designer, theoretical physicist, Microsoft employee, director, journalist, musician, Air Force cadet, lawyer, and abstract painter. I have had run-in with some of my clones before...mixed up test grades with one of them in college and now I have to deal with phone calls from lawyers looking for the another one who lived in the same city as I am living in now. Bah...wish my parents thought of something more original to name me like Tiberius Xavier Cross or something like that.

My double was an influential pacifist, physician, and politician from Greece. He
was assassinated at a nuclear disarmament rally in 1963. They made a movie
about it called Z (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065234/).

He's still very well remembered... when I visit Greece and people ask my name,
they always say " that's a very strong name".

I know my doppelganger in real life. According to my mom, we were born within the same hour in the same hospital, went to the same schools up to high school, but we didn't know about each other until we were introduced by our respective mothers.

Her mom happens to be my mom's doppelganger too.

November 24th, 2009, 10:18 AM
I have no doppelgänger. I seem to be the only Brittany Pezzillo. November 24th, 2009, 02:26 PM
I am the only britt-lise newstead, as far as I can find. :( I am kind of disappointed!

I guess it's because the britt-lise part is swedish/french and the newstead part is english so it's a fairly rare combination...

As for daestwen... Even though it's my last name backwards (except for the s and the t) and thus I made it up and it's not celtric or irish or anything at all, for some reason fan fic authors still really like it so when you search it you get weird vampire fanfiction. :P like this : http://www.tthfanfic.org/AuthorBlog-9992/Daestwen.htm and this random person on facebook : http://www.facebook.com/people/Daestwen-E/1646820019

I should have kept that domain. I would bet that 90 percent of his traffic is people who think that is me. Recently I had someone thinking that was me on the fine art side. ugh. I wonder if he would put a disclaimer on his site for me.

There are others. One was a kid in a band that everyone called an asshole so years ago you could search my name and find jason manley is an asshole in google. That guy went quiet so I guess he either got hit by a bus or started being decent.

Some of those links are funny. Dopplegangers unite

Everybody in the whole first page of google with my exact name is me, except for some dude who died as an artillerist on the Isle of Wight during WWI. Oh well. If you leave out my middle name you can find a lot of listings for a software guy who apparently works for U. Mass. or something like that.

One Manley is a concept artist, and one is a conceptual artist - sort of a fine line. But the "other" Manley reminds me of Ed Ruscha, the drawings anyway. It is an interesting comparison of artists though. I'm sure he'd find this thread amusing, and I'm sure he'll find this thread too since us artists do love googling ourselves....

My Name-elganger is the guy who directed the Mummy, Van Helsing and GI Joe, and I recently received a demo tape from a canadian rapper named "durt dizzle" who thought his music definitely belonged in "my" new GI Joe movie... how hilarious.

Most of my doppelgangers are jazz musicians.
