My boyfriend is obsessed about finding a particular painting and the name of it... it has captured his imagination but he hasn't been able to find it since he saw it a long time ago in a gallery in Sweden.

It is a painting of a Spanish galleon standing in the middle of a rain forest viewed from the back with it's sails intact. The ropes of the ship are covered in orchids. A friend of mine suggested that it is very much like a description of a ship in a book called "One Hundred Years of Solitude". Perhaps the painting is based on it. If anyone can shed light on the name of the painter and the painting itself I would be very gratified :)

Do you know which particular gallery it was, as you could try looking it up on the galleries site? (Sorry I tried looking for it, but can't find anything)

No idea. I'll ask him but I kinda wanted to make it a surprise of sorts. Thanks for trying :)

Vladimir Kush has painted weird flowery ships. I didn't see the one described but if this is the right style a search of his gallery might reveal something...

Thanks but I believe the painting had a more dystopian look to it.
