Spartan Camp #87 - 50 gestures + Optional Study of "Hands"
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 17th of May.

The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras....and can be in any media, digital or traditional is fine. Both with and without reference is OK. 50 poses is a challenge, but don't stress yourself reaching it! Practice is the main goal.

In addition to this, participants can choose to do a Optional Study of "Hands", in any media. Black and White or Colour is fine.

:muscle: Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!! :muscle:

PS...critting each other is highly encouraged!! Let's help each other get better!

Didn't do so many gestures this week, but here are those I did.

All made from fantasy art references and posemaniacs (90-45 sec/pose)

Also drew my hand in some different positions. Will post that as soon as I can take a picture of them (drew them traditionally)

Mindbendermind; No problem, focus on the studies rather than rushing to 50! Nice going. I'm seeing the construction lines, both in the posemaniacs and fantasy poses. You should try and lay down some big shapes for the chest, pelvis, etc in your sketch. See if that works. You seem to be drawing a lot from purely observation (correct me when wrong) Determining those big shapes will help your observation and construction. Bridgman describes it pretty well! I think it's actually a very good idea to copy fantasy images like those. Gives you some variation and keeps you 'fresh'. Nice!

Not quite 50 either.

Nice ones, Anthis. Thanks for the advice, have begun working with "How to draw what you see" (De Reyna). He breaks everything down into the four basic shapes, so I'm starting to get into the habit of doing so. Here is the hand study (my own hand, HB pencil):

I'm sorry, I had unusually little time last week and I'm a blocked lazy idiot who simply doesn't draw anyway... I drew some gestures and hands, of course, but they were few and bad and scattered in my sketchbook pages and I didn't photograph them.
I try to do them every week from now on... with a few detailed nice ones.

Don't be too hard on yourself, some weeks are busier than others. Looking forward to seeing your drawings another week :-)
