yeah 'The league of extraordinary gentlemen' is where i got my idea from, i was going to do one based off the comic but i don't think anyone would have recongized it. in the comic he's a big red dude.

Here you go. I'm just starting to try and fleshout characters now. I really want to be able to draw comics better than this. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Nice work guys. I had trouble with this one. Traditional painting has taught me a bit, however the transfer from oils/acrylics to digital is rough. I feel very detached and I have problems with shape/form and then building out from basic shapes. Any tips/crits to assist in using painter 8 properly would be great, thanks.

PS: I was sloppy in some areas and it is unfinished. Just to let you know ;) but its only a sketch--just a sketch.

I had plenty of time to work on my sketch while I rotted in various lines all day. :P Didn't feel too comfortable tackling Hyde without any reference, so I just drew Dr. Jeckyl and slapped some quick color on him when I got home.

http://www.pbtteam.com/dump/jeckylsm.jpg

Davi: Love your style...

illcap: The expressions are so creepy!

hunger: For some reason the look the girl is giving Hyde made me giggle. I'm digging your style, as always.

bretton: What if he just walked around like that? That would be amusing.

Bit of a goofy one today, no reference today either. I just plopped out a quick sketch and painted it.

So when Dr. Jekyll becomes a monster he isn't allowed to practice medicine and has to be referred as Mr. ?

Looking great everyone!

@ Hunger_Artist: Tell us about how you work, I'm sure a lot of us are dying to know.

Sketched this while on the ferry today. Sorry the ballpoint pen didn't come out better.
http://www.in-sight.net/Sketches/299-jekyl-hyde.gif

Hmmm... I think Mr. Hyde is expressing his base nature by examining a nasal extraction...

Like 'em all today. This was kind of a tricky one for me. Good work everyone!

Didn't have any inspiration at first.
Then I googled around a bit and found some refs.
Partly inspired by a book cover and an
old unrelated sketch i made.

Merry Christmas everyone.

wow, I like a lot of them today.

oDD: I have to compliment you on your pens. I always like your paintings, but it's cool to see a hand sketch for a change.

wednesday: digging the loose style and the red.

illcap: great composition and expressions. overall a very dynamic piece.

too many good ones to pick a favorite.

Swelp me, I miss oil painting and figure drawing so much. I'm starting to get so desperate that I'm thinking about going to the red light section of town to hire a hooker to pose a half-hour for me for sixty bucks.

Anyway comments since I'm on time today :D

-jook- sweet brush stroke shapes
-davi- hells bells, lovely light. I was thinking of LXG when I first saw this too :D
-and then a wocket- welcome to DSG! very cool mood there
-lichtpartikel- yeah, christmas does suck doesn't it.
-cocofuppa- if I had muscles like that I'd look in the mirror too. (I'd also shave.)
-theeworstartist- no wonder he's so pissed, even the hulk doesn't have to go around naked :(
-illcap- that looks painful. (nice crosshatching!)
-dfacto- Woah, simila-r ideas. o_o I think you probably did it better than mine though, yours is more effective :D
-nachttod- Welcome (back) to DSG! nice collection of ideas for Jekyll and Hyde, also kind of mysterious
-vital-k- Welcoem to DSG! man, I don't wanna see the tracks on his arm... but yeah, if they let people host images here then bandwidth costs would probably go through the roof...
-sic8sic- sweet pose dude
-hunger artist- woah shit, I could totally see that becoming an awesome children's story book. :chug:
-odd- woah, odd pulls out the paper and pen today
-carnifex- better luck next time ey? Looks like a good exercize anyway though
-plankton- Welcoem to DGS! cool style there :D
-steapf- GSD ot welcommen! Woah, that is truly bizarre and wicked cool
-devilbunny- nice anatomy, looks like those potions pack some calories as well :D
-wildsprucemoose- OIL PAINTINGGGGG  er ahem...I can't really provide specific tips, but like any medium, CG takes some getting used to. Just keep at it and it will come. :)
-awalloffire- nice painting of the light there! I like your brushstrokes a lot
-wednesday- nice warm/cool thing there
-phantom head- I dunno, it looks pretty convincing to me. nice mood also
-mykro- NOOO not his TIRES?!?!
-bretton- Now that's gotta hurt a wee bit more than peein' a ham there..
-wundergeek- nice figure drawing, but what really impresses me is that you have the courage to draw IN PUBLIC
-PAGE TWO!!!- Hi.
-idiot apathy- I like how you painted this one. Indeed, because of his schizophrenic nature Hyde does not posess medical knowledge, just the Hulk Smash.
-miau- woah neat, a collab dsg! :chug:
-mikecorriero- holy crap that's neat
-avalos- cool use of color in the mirror
-kogepan- coemwel a DSG! nice painting of light and mood!
-oregano- too bad about the scan, digging it nevertheless. (Also that you drew in public.)
-amishcommy- sweet painting, kind of reminds me of terminator also. :D
-paper slayer- nice use of the lighting, it works quite well
-bkmini- digging your line quality, especially that when he becomes Hyde he explodes in marker lines
-wystro- now that is an interesting transformation I haven't really seen before. Kind of like a snake shedding its skin...
-avalos- the crosshatching in the shadows adds a nice turbulent feel to the mood
-rho- I'm guessing it's digital, but it's a quite nice brushpen-type drawing. Nice angles and shapes.

Quite a few newcomers today! Sorry, I'm insane today, I don't know where all this energy came from. Woah, it took me an hour to write responses. O_O The next DSG has started already. I am sad. :(
:D

Okay, I'll triple that. Definately cool, nifty and otherwise well done.

Plaf, I don't think you've done a piece that I *haven't* liked.

Silentbrain, I love oils as well. Digital is hard to wrap the brain around (pardon the pun).

MIKECORRIERO, I think being sick helped with this one - you really got that, um, sick feeling in the picture :D

Everyone else, just great stuff. I would love to go through and comment individually on them all, but I just don't have the time! Dab-Nabbit!

Anyway, happy holidays to those that celebrate, and to those that don't, have a great day!
