hi,
Right, i know that i am probably breaking all kinds of taboo's but... how much should i charge?
I'm working mainly as a concept artist and over the last few years i have accepted very different payment types and amounts. whether its hourly or per itme or per job i can never be sure i'm not undercharging or over charging. I'm working in the uk, often for international clients (which makes things harder) and i have recently had a discussion with one of my clients about it becasue his firm is new and he has no idea what to offer. i thought maybe if we can get an average then everyone will be better off. :) i also work with a couple of young lads who are trying to get into the industry and this was thier first question. (yep, i looked blank and 'ummm'ed)
any help would be welcomed.
thanks,
bob

I guess it all depends on how good you are. If your like artbyfeng.com then of course you charge a gagillion bagillion lol dollars.

Total your monthly expenses, multiply by 1.25, devide by 160. This is how much you need to make every hour to make your expenses AFTER TAXES, assuming you work 40 hours a week. The real trick is how to estimate time needed for a project.

If you aren't comfortable with this amount, based on your skills or experience, ask for less, knowing you can't live off if the result, or bite the bullet and ask anyway. You might be surprised.

That's a pretty neat formula you've got there. Where did you get it from?

Check out the posts in this forum from last year (2003) because I know we have covered this in great detail already.

I've written some lengthy texts on the subject so check my posts under the "Member" button, hti "L" and look up "Leopoldo" and do a "search for all posts by this user" in the upper right hand side of the screen you should be able to find some insight... :-)

Happy hunting,
Leopoldo
