View Full Version : Lead in me palm

Sometime when I was a kid I was throwing a pencil up into the air and catching it. I messed up at one point and the pointy end of the pencil went into my palm. It didn't go very far and it didn't bleed, but it did leave a graphite mark embedded under my skin. It's been there ever since.
I was watching an episode of Tough Crowd, and Colin Quinn mentioned something similar as having happened to him. He said it went away after a long time. Does anyone else have experience with this?

Yea, i have. And itīs really stupid. At school when i was eight, i had a girl sitting infront of me in class, naturally i pulled her hair all the time, untill the day she turned around and stabbed me in the leg with her pencil. I still have a black dot where she hit me.

Well, I've stabbed myself with pencils and stuff but never had any lead marks on me. But I stabbed myself with my pen and nib that had indian ink on it. I've still got the blot of ink in there.

when i was about 3 or 4, i had a pencil in my hand, tip up, and i was trying to open a door on a cabinet.
its was a little stuck so i had to pull very hard to get it open.
well it opened very suddenly and my hand came flyin off and i stabbed the inside of my ear with the pencil.
i still have that mark :D

This has got to be one of the funniest threads. I have a friend who this happened to, he still has the lead bit stuck in his hand. It must not be deadly or anything, and I guess its not really lead, but graphite rather...I don't have any cool pencil stabbing scars, i do however usually have a darkened hand edge. Don't you get that? When you are drawing forever and then the side edge of your hand is covered in graphite from moving over the drawing so much? Maybe I'm a sloppy drawer.

haha, i am wearing the mark of the artist, too!
what a great thread...
i wear mine on my upper leg. the story is: when i was in school, like 8th or 9th grade, among my friends was a kinda crazy girl. she is THE incarnation of a tomboyish gal with the occasional girly affect. :)
in the end, you never knew what was going on with her the other day, plus she was crazy as hell, so she was nice to have around.
one day, we were all making shitty jokes when as an answer, she turned round, stabbed me through my levis (!) with a pencil in my leg. i was like wtf... also, the pencil was about 4mm shorter than before it entered my leg. i carried that pencil tip with me for about one week when i finally got it out.
the mark became less dark gray over time, though, and is now whiter than my skin (which is no easy feat either).
oh, the uberplot of the story is: the pencil was given out at some kind of charity booth and inscribed upon it are the words: "for human rights"
:) :chug:

LOL! Great thread... And I can feel the pain again when I stabbed my left palm with my #2 back in elementary school... and on that day... an artist was born...

This is great!
I was rocking back in a chair one day in class during the 3rd grade, when I stabbed myself in the stomach, and thus was born the mark of the artist.;)
I also have one in my knee!

omigosh! i'm not alone in this!!!
I've been embarrassed to tell people that i have a graphite mark right smack dab in the middle of my palm. so clumsy of me to stab myself there and it won't go away. i can't even remember how it got there cause it's been so long.
now i can show it proudly. :D
"mark of an artist" i like that.

My friend has the "mark of the artist" stuck deep in his ass...
In third grade, my best friend and I were seated next to the new kid, the type of kid who picks his braces off with his pen and laughs every time he farts. The teacher called my friend up to her desk, and right before he came back and sat at his chair the new kid held a pencil straight up and down on his seat. My friend sat with full weight on the pencil, and all I saw was a trail of blood shooting from his ass as he flew out the room. Straight up his ass, eraser deep. It was awful.
Every time I look at my graphite dotted hands I remember that it could be a hell of a lot worse.

Merry Christmas!
I've got a graphite mark in the palm of my left hand where I jabbed myself with a pencil about 25 years ago. I was 5. To date, it is my only tattoo.
Wait, I take that back. I sat on a sharpened pencil stuck between some couch cushions once. Freakin' lead broke off in my butt cheek. Took some buck knife surgery to get it out. So, I have two graphite tattoos.

In elementary school, our class was playing some kind of game (the name escapes me) where you sit on your desk and throw a ball around to each other.. I think it had somehting to do with being quiet...
Anyways, I was "out" so I was sitting normally at my desk drawing when someone threw the ball to the person next to me, but they didn't catch it. Needless to say, I got a pencil stuck in my hand and I still have a mark there from the lead/puncture wound.
