Hi there,
I posted this at CG talk as well but there wasn't much reaction to it. :(
Anyway, it's an image inspired by Anne Rice's Vampire Trilogy - I imagined Louis standing on a balcony over Bourbon street, literally and figuratively turning his back on the mob of humanity below. I hope you like it.

louis looks like he needs a little more detail to pull him into picture more, and the beam behind him doesn't match the others, wrought iron over lapse, but other than that well done

Elwell's right. That is a damn good awning you drew there.

Perspective is all wrong I think.

His left arm looks like it's filed down to a point instead of nestling behind the other. He has a lovely, well-proportioned face, but his lower body looks cartoony and frankly, a little silly. And of course, Elwell hit the biggest issue. This was a very complicated set-up, with all the filigree, so for that, I commend you!

Yep, Elwell's right.
You've got Louis all the same coloring as the balcony and what not and then there is this large patch of completely different color unused anywhere else and that is where we all look.
Even without it being circled I would have looked there first and thought, 'where's Louis?'
And I have to agree about the skinny legs but you did do a lot of work on this piece and I do say you get credit for that.
Can you soften it up a bit and make the coloring more like an Old Masters painting? That might fit more with a romantic feel since art is talked about in the books and I am certain that they didn't have such graphic novel type coloring in the Louvre.
And wasn't Armand made a vampire by some artist guy, or was that Maurius? I dunno.
But I do have to say I had a 'now that is really wierd' moment when I saw your username and the subject line. I just got a truck load of stuff to do fleamarketing with and there was a box of videos in those videos was a copy of Interview with A Vampire and Baron Munchausen a movie I'd wanted a copy of for ages.
Strange.

Hi all, I haven't looked at this site in ages - hence why I didn't respond.
Thanks a bunch for your comments. You're absolutely right about the focus. I'm just learning how to create whole compositions and I make that kind of mistake a lot. :)
Personally, I like his legs skinny - this is how I proportion my characters. That said, I see that they look odd - as I mentioned above, putting figures into settings is still not something I'm comfortable with and it shows in the work. Anyhoo, I'll keep trying - and once again, thanks for the feedback!
