Retro "Comic Book" or "Pre-War" style illustrations

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I've been searching for a resource for a specific type of illustration but haven't been able to find anything online, quite possibly because I don't really know what it would be labeled as.

Anyhow, below are a couple small samples of what I'm talking about.

If anybody could point me in the right direction for resources with more of these types of illustrations/images, or if somebody knows what the technical name for them are and I could find them myself.

Hi matey I have had a good ferret about on the internet and I am going to have to admit that I am struggling here, I have turned up some stuff for you but its not up to my usual brilliant standard.

This is a reasonable site that drops a lot of names of illustrators working in the era you want and it shows you how they put those things together.

This one is a blog that has loads of names and links to follow that again are somewhere in the region of what you want but not exact, Get a brew or a beer on your fist and go through it there’s some useful stuff.

Ok, now this one is useful it shows how to draw that style of cartoon image, specifically the clothes etc.

This illustrator's contemporary, but he draws in that retro style you're referring to.

Nick Dewar (he illustrated The Devil Wears Prada book cover). Has a nice mid-century feel and style.
