Here is something that I drew last night in PS 7.0. I was trying to learn how to do clouds. I spent maybe 3 hours drawing and redrawing clouds, but just couldn't do it right. Needless to say this concept kicked my ass, but I want to redo it because it could be really cool despite this one being anything but.
Its a space ship burning up in the atmoshpere btw.
And does anyone have any tips as to how to make the clouds/ground better?

I have great respect and admiration for Cowboy Bebop, I should by the DVD's...
As for the clouds,
shadow of ship trail could appear on top of cloud layer
shadow of cloud in background could be lighter
ground/water seems, er, too harsh
bit dark on bottom/side of cloud
keep in mind shadows should change in saturation since the amount of light able to go through a cloud is always changing
hope that helps a little,

:bash: the ship trail really should leave a shadow on the clouds, that was dumb. The rest is really helpful as well. I think I will try to repaint this later, since I have Thunderdome right now. Thnx for the crit avalos

...you know i've been looking at this, and it just occured to me that it would be a lot better if you cropped the image just above the dark part of the cloud. like avalos said, it's too dark, and i don't think it does anything to define the shape of the cloud all that much - too stark of a contrast. hmm, the other thing i just noticed, is that the light part of the cloud has some funky pale lines that almost give it a metal feel...clouds do reflect light, but not in that way. i like the ship's trail though. hope this helps as well.
