Wanted to make a more detailed crest on the chest or something to make it more...ugh...knighty, but it just looked like too much. Interested in seeing how you all approach this one.

Hi folks!

Well here's mine for today. A true quickie. Done in about 10-15mins w/ Pilot Hi-Tec C pens.

http://www.auner.net/images/white_knight_dsg_297.jpg

Well, maybe I'll do another one today. Not sure yet.

@awalloffire: Nice rending!

@phantom_head: The horse is nice. and the rider too. Cool idea overall, I'd have to say.

@SABRE: Frightening I'd say. Isn't the white knight supposed to be the good guy??? :D

Oh man, this one is gonna take require a little research. Robots and armor are the devil.

And this reminds me, has anyone here read anything by LEM? i'm pretty sure he wrote solaris which they made two movies of, one with george clooney. Anyway, he always wrote strange sci-fi about machines with extremely human traits, including robotic knights and what not. Lots of short stories where he describes what they look like. very strange. Stanislaw Lem.

Did this with graphite and cleaned it up a little in Photoshop after I scanned it. I used a reference for the armor - a couple of D&D source books. (Yeah, I'm a nerd)

http://www.pbtteam.com/dump/dsg122103sm.jpg

awalloffire: Your robot makes me think of a cross between Robocop and a Terminator. Don't know why...

sabre: Have you ever seen the anime called "The Big O"? That's what yours reminds me of...

phantom_head: Love that horse.

Everyone's robots are so different. I'm curious to see what other people do.

Ran out of time on this one, wanted to have an albino raven sitting on his finger but I couldn't fit it in iwth my day. Couldn't finish the sword either. Oh well, I still like it :)

http://home.comcast.net/~jeffmajor/whiteknight.jpg

awalloffire: i love the lighting, but his torso is a little confusing, seems like it could use a little definition?
odd: wonderful man, that's some awesome texturing :)
xaviuzz: whatever that is on his bicep (is it made of glass?) its freaking awesome
wundergeek: nice shading, seems like the axe should be double sided though.

I'm not that happy with this. Relativly quick pencil sketch.

hey everyone. just looking through this thread has made me livid at myself for not checking it earlier so i could have more time to work on mine [which im about to begin]. but alas! ive yet ten hours time left to work plus... out of school tommorow on christmas holiday so i can take more time to work and not have to sleep.

some comments

senorpollo: good start, the one on the left one, its legs look disproportioned to the rest of it... and doesn't your name mean mister chicken? thats cool

valcon jet, wundergeek, and oDD: absolutely love them!

good stuff all round.

mine's a knight in shining armour. i figured if i was going to do a mounted knight, i might as well make him part of the horse's body itself. no point in separating them really =)

(i used photo reference for the horse. man those things are hard to get right in motion)

cravemynightmares: hope you had a good flight! :)

Now...all I need to do is steal Plaf's magnificent horse, and I'm set!

What an inspiring gathering -- if we could get all of these robot knights together, we could save the world...

Well, decided to try a differnt style with the color. Definitely should have used painter since i was going for a rough look. Avoided multiply and screen, tried to shade using the palette.

Retro: Different in a good way. very cool.

Odd: Great textures and i love the way the color just fades off.

Plaf: The value rocks, diggin the extreme contrast. Gives a real sense of form. Photo ref was definitely worth it, you nailed the motion (in my opinion). Hate to critique, but the one thing i notice is the horses rump is a little small. Still one of my favs.

I really like that second one, Sabre

Azmeos -- I would try blending out the background so that the figure pops out a bit more. I like the cheery colors.

Its been a long day and I woke up sick so just a quickie today.

Another one of those "flowing mind" sort of sketches where you don't think or plan, just have at it.

http://img3.photobucket.com/albums/v13/Ragnarok27/final.jpg

Messing around with all sorts of junk in photoshop and painter.

A real neat and crazy topic along with some really neat and crazy entries, bravo!

My PM box has been full lately, who knew it could do that...? Not me thats for sure! Sorry if anyone has tried to PM me for the past few days, it should be clear now... I hope.

Late (again...)

Trying out Feng's work process this time, it's...not really my thing. Maybe I'll try it out a few more times, see if I can get it past my damn brain-blocks.

Partly inspired by the ghost mountain guy leader from LOTR movie. Dig that serpentine/ribcage-like getup and the resemblance to two layers of teeth (ie shark teeth)
