Hi, this is my first post. I have no art training and I am currently self teaching myself as much as I can. I was lucky enough to attend Reverie in Dallas, and met many wonderful people. I had the chance to talk to Carl Dobsky who put many things into perspective for me, as far as the concept art industry and furthering my art education. These are a few pieces from my first portfolio, which was submitted to various schools around the world. During the next couple years I will be traveling the world and will be studying under various renowned artists, both traditionally and digitally. I have much to learn :lifedrawing:
Feel free to comment and critique.
Thanks for looking.
This is my first completed illustration. And my first original concept:)

Below: I DO NOT consider this a completely original piece. During the time of this painting I was highly influenced by Lori Earely's works. Even though the pieces are very different, I just want to make it apparent that it is reminiscent of her work. Here's a link for one of her pieces titled "Regret" which you will find I was inspired by: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3169/2804190876_f12fe020b2.jpg?v=0

The image below was an Andrew Jones Workshop from Imagine FX. I am in NO WAY taking credit for the idea of this piece. It gave me the chance to use some of Andrew's tools and techniques which was fun and challenging.

There were a few other pieces of artwork I removed from this thread. I feel they should have been posted in the studies and sketches forum. I will post them up there instead.

love the first two, the other ones have some anatomy problems, especially the bloody nurse and the one without skin. I wish you luck in your art career, keep always practicing.

Icedearth15876: Thanks, yah most of these pieces are a bit on the creepier side.

adconcept: Thanks for your critiques. I'm currently studying more figure and anatomy. My future studies abroad will hopefully help me refine my skills in this department. I have SO MUCH to learn.

Fullluminance: Thanks for diggin my work.

Michael@suf: Thanks for taking a look at my work. I have a long road of learning ahead of me. I will hopefully post some better quality and more versatile work up in the near future.

I just recently removed a few of the bottom pieces or art I had posted. I feel they should have not been included in this thread. They were studies. I will post them in the proper forum.

not too bad. watch out with source material, though.

colors on that first one have a nice balance of subdued and saturated.

sourgasm: Thanks for your advice. Yes during the time of that painting I was highly influenced by her works. I did create this piece with my own idea in mind but some of the elements of her artwork is reminiscent in the second piece, just like you said. I made it a point to state this. I am in NO WAY trying to imitate her work although being highly influenced by her work at the time, I agree that it shows. Like I said, I am self teaching myself and am now currently keeping myself from being influenced by other artists. I want to create my own style, which will eventually develop with a lot of studying, practice and hard work.

Love it! Especially the superimposed symbols, it gives it a mystic air. Again love it

Very strong work, really like your concepts especially. I'd like to see you put less emphasis on textures, however, as I think that hurts the forms of your figures. Other than that, you're off to a great start.

Keep on posting!
