im trying to find intuos 4 tablet with student discount. But i foudn that the student discount price is the same as how much wacom sells it for, like here.

They're just making it look as if they were offering a deal, in case anyone were dumb enough not to check the regular price. I doubt you're gonna find any discounts on Intuos 4 anytime soon, but I could be wrong so stay on the look out.

Check that site. I personally love it, the products quality is amazing and they offer great deals. the intuos 4 xl retails there for 689, the academic vers is 709 advertised and is currently 655 for the unadvertised price. I ordered mine and only payed 722 after all was said and done (and after Ohio had added a freaking 50 dollar state tax... Wold have been 673 or so after shipping otherwise... Ohio FTL...)

are the academic and regular tablets the same?

Yes the hardware is physically the same, the only difference is the model number, all the academic ones end in AC. Man I wish I had checked out provantage, got my medium tablet for $300 from Corel with a coupon(non student), would have saved like 3 bucks after provantage added shipping (: I had used provantage to get my Intuos3 9x12 a few years ago though, I remember it was over $100 off, and back then they really charged alot more for shipping too.
