Ok I dont have a lot of details, I just remember two evil entities were the Haunter and the Manticore. The box art had some stuff on it and what I remember clear as day was this "Manticore" using a scorpion like tail to brake this warriors axe. The warrior looked like he was going to attack regardless that his one weapon was now destroyed. I know, not much at all to go on, and this is probably around or earlier than 1992 because I used to own Battle Masters, and the date on the box is 92. Anyone think they can help?
I can't remember the name of the game at all, probably because I don't recall ever knowing the name. I also remember the box art was pretty serious - not cartoony at all. It's 1:30 AM here and I'm going nuts trying to find the Box Art. I think it was the same type of game as Battle Masters by Milton Bradley.
I've ruled out:
Heroscape,
heroes of Might and Magic,
Heroclix,
Arkham Horror
Cleopatra
Colliseum
Risk
Stratego

Yeah, you're thinking of "Dark World" by Mattel.

It was one of the D&D style miniature knock off games like "Hero Quest" that came out back in the late 80s early 90s.

Noah, thanks for your post. It's always nice to have another resource with which to search for cool games.
Jason, Props dude - that cover is so not the way I remember it, but the scorpion tale is firing a laser and was a detail I thought I remembered but neglected to mention because I was unsure. Plus, the game board looks exactly how I remember it. I'm actually a little disappointed, it looked a lot better in my mind haha! Then again, I was in 2nd or 3rd grade when I first played this. Thanks again man, you helped me put an end to something that was really driving me nuts.

I had this game when I was a kid!! Darkworlds was the shit for about 5 minutes until I started actually role playing with friends, DnD, L5R, Shadow Run, a cool system my friend created, Cobas. Aww, the days of role playing.

Is this the one where you could fire ilke "cannon balls" at the castle at the end and it shattered or is that a different game?

Never played Dark World, but I loved HeroQuest! Oh man, I haven't thought about that in years! Always loved the box art by Les Edwards too:

Hell yes to HeroQuest and Talisman. Here's one I remember playing as a very wee pup.

I think that the one I played was put out by TSR, so I'm guessing they just fancied up the packaging

Yeah, the original came out in....75 I think. The one you have shown is a later updated version. The board looks about the same though.

I used to have Heroquest but my mom threw it away. I'm still upset about it. :[

I loved Hero Quest. My brother and I wasted many hours playing that one particular summer.
Talisman is cool too. I'm actually working on a few illustrations for a new expansion to that.
