I stumbled upon this gnarly reference for ODST's yesterday, thought I'd pass it along:

There are some other pop-culture items on there as well, the MJ statue is looking pretty nice!
*edit*
The flickr account is the work of Adam Ross, BTW. http://poboyross.deviantart.com/ He said it's o.k. to link to.
Thanks Adam!

So um... I noticed all the reference photos they have up are of the UNSC forces.
Is there a rule that says we can't do Covenant? (The Arbiter specifically.) I am more than capable of finding my own references but I just noticed the lack of other species.

Anything from the Halo universe is fine, Aliens, Vechicles, Scenery?
Anyone got any progress to share? I'm thinking of extending the dealine a little to Sep 20th?, what do you guys think?

Is that when HALO: ODST comes out?
I've got my references all together and some pieces and parts, but nothing worth showing right now.
There's been 370 views on the announcement over at the Clubhouse, but it looks like we've only got 5 or 6 participants so far. I'd love to see more people get in on this. Maybe we could get a mention on halo.bungie.org or something to drum up some more interest?
Just thinking out loud.

Okay to make things more appealing foe the shy ones, I've done away with the entry fee. Yep it's free to enter this comp so do it now!
Hi Jedi, if you could relate this news back to the clubhouse that'd be great. The dealine would be 2 days before ODST is released. That'll give us time to rest our sculpting fingers ready to turn em into gaming fingers!

I did a sculpture of master chief and posted it here a year or something ago.......
can i submit that? or if no can i post the link just for inspiration to whoever is taking part in this competition?
TeaMonster
August 4th, 2009, 12:56 PM
Darkwulf; Yea that's the spirit give it a go, you're only gonna get better by doing right :)
Fovos: Hi I remember your sculpt well, alas the idea is to boost the competitiveness and train ourselves to work to time limits. I encourage you to do a new sculpt and try and best your previous work. Doesn't have to be The Chief, how about The Arbiter to keep your original company....? Please post up ref pics for sure.

It's such a shame more people didn't enter. I think all the wonderfully angle-y lines have put them off.
No matter what you will definately see me next year if the competition runs again.
Thank you Teamonster for this chance to model, I had fun :-)

I'm with Darkwulf on this one. Even though I didn't submit my entry, I had a lot of fun working on it and I'll post some pics when it's more along.
Zaahn: Nice M.C., how big (or small) is your sculpt?
Oscar: hubba hubba! I've got a HGN Cortana armature for that pose, just haven't put any clay on it yet. Nice job.

Hey Jedi, he's about 6.3Inches, i worked in a scale where 1inch is one foot.... not sure if thats a 1:6 ratio or what but he's not that big... I had fun making MC but i did the Flood literally 4 hours before the deadline so thats why they look horrible...

Hey guys...wazzup!
Me and Jarrod had a lot of fun looking these over. We were really impressed as well. Hardward and armor are not easy things to pull off and frankly we try to avoid sculpting them like the plague.
The Phobos sculpt was really elegant and well done. Very clean and it had great, subltle movement.
The Zaahn Sculpt was without a doubt the most complete overall vision. Really nicely put together.
I loved the blood and the whole "wounded warrior" thing with the Canis Lupis. But then, I can never have enough blood on my sculpts.
My favorite bit on any of the sculptures was the question mark on the Darkwulfs piece. Classic!
Any of you guys feel free to email or PM me anytime with questions or just to talk shop.
Thanks to Teamonster for inviting us to participate.
Keep sculpting, my fellow freaks and geeks!

Hello guys, first of all thank you for the opportunity that give us with contests like these to show our talent.
Really all the works of the competition deserve great recognition, since each has its work and great detail.
Second, thanks to the Shifletts brothers for taking the time to evaluate the work.
I hope we are in communication and have me here for what is offered.

brandonshiflett thanks for the kind words. I went out and bought the entire halo series to get a better idea who these characters were, and i really tried to stay true to the theme of the contest.
FYI, I had no idea the Flood existed until about a month ago, and i've played halo 1 since it came out in a multiplayer setting... just never single player...
Thanks again to TeaMonster!! I had a lot of fun this time around, PRC was AWESOME...
When's the next one? (i'd even be willing to help with the prizes :) )

Oh god, not played Halo single player? Okay I'm a PS3 fanboy ('Darkwulf71' for any PSN invites) but I completed Halo in 5 sittings because the story is so well done and riveting it's worth it.
Find someone who's got an xbox and that game gathering dust, I promise you won't be dissapointed.
