Spartan Camp #84 - 50 gestures + Optional Study of "Animal Skull"
The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 26th of April.

The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras....and can be in any media, digital or traditional is fine. Both with and without reference is OK. 50 poses is a challenge, but don't stress yourself reaching it! Practice is the main goal.

In addition to this, participants can choose to do a Optional Study of "Animal Skull", in any media. Black and White or Colour is fine.

:muscle: Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!! :muscle:

PS...critting each other is highly encouraged!! Let's help each other get better!

That's great, Anthis, I'm in. Should I try to post all gestures in one post or can I spread them out as I finish them? (I'm a spartan noob you know ;-))

Hi again, done with the first half of the drill, so I figured I'd start posting some. Sorry for crappy digicam quality.

5-8 and 42-50 are from imagination, the others from reference

EDIT: Today (26/4) I did my 50th gesture and drew a sheep skull study by Richard Bell.

Thanks for inspiring me to practice and for suggesting a study subject that was really fun to draw. :-)

Mindbendermind; Hey man! Seems to be a bit of an unfortunate week with few people joining in, which is a shame. I got caught up in exams myself. Bit of an empty round for you :P. Next week will be better!
Great to see you're in though. Cam quality is fine. You must have gotten your ref from a lot of different sources, fun to seeing so many different subjects and settings. I'm seeing Bridgman, sporters, fantasy figures, creatures. Especially Bridgman is great, keep that up! Not sure how often you've been practicing it or if you've started reading yet. But remember those big 'masses' he mentions! Start with building blocks like pelvis, torso, head. They'll define the major shapes of your pose and by analyzing them you'll have a great start. They can also help you define the proportions and allow you to see mistakes early on. Also, keep up those construction lines! I can see some of them in there.
Great job on your variety of poses. Also, using pen will surely help you develop more solid linework, nice going! Great job on the optional, must be a challenge with the pen ;)

Well I did sit down and sing "All by myself" the entire week... ;-)

Thanks for comments, hope to join the train again another week when there are more passengers. One question though: Does it have to be "gestures" in the loosest sense or could any figure/creature drawing at a "lineart level" done during the week be included in the "magnificent 50"? I just LOVE copydrawing comic and fantasy lineart - is that ok for STC submission as well?
