The first image you attach to the first post in your thread will become the thumbnail pic next to your thread.
The attachment feature is the button that looks like a paperclip.

I am having the same problem as the OP. I followed all the instructions with the following link, and still didn't get a thumbnail. --> http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=129385
I tried it twice, once with my sketchbook and once in the critiques section. Both times, I've been thumbnail-less and look like a complete n00b (even though... I technically am...)
I'm tired of not knowing what I'm doing! lol

@Tres_Chic~ I'm having the same exact problem... apparently lots of others are having the same problem too! I even double checked my image to see if it was a CMYK file, and I cannot even begin to state how many times I've resized... but it's still not working. apparently everything should be correct. . . I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm beginning to think it's a ploy to make all us newcomers stick out from the croud. :cheerleader::cheerleader: :sadcheerleader: :cheerleader::cheerleader:

No one is fixing this problem :(. And I know I don't look at sketchbooks with no preview images myself...so this is sad to me.

The forum software has recently been updated and the thumbnail feature needs to be fixed.

clockworksnail, you can begin by putting your sketchbook in your signature. And please let them do their work, they probably have more important things to do than fixing a thumbnail feature for you to get more views.
Make a funny sketchbook title or do some kick-ass studies / pieces and people will look =) I promise you.

That's a bit thick, isn't it? I would imagine the main reason a lot of us start sketchbooks is to get critiques, so if we're losing out on those as a result of the beige square issue then there goes a major motivation for posting. Please don't write it off as an unimportant concern.

Excuse me, but may I question your wisdom in replying in such a manner to a valued member of the community? Seems people were able to still draw regardless of "Beige square or not".
It is not being written off as an "unimportant concern" Concept Art has hosted your works for free asking for little back, you think you can at least take that into account in telling people to "hurry up" when most of this is volunteer work.

Pardon me, I didn't realize I wasn't permitted to respond honestly to someone due to their seniority. It simply seemed they were being rude and dismissive in a "pipe down and be grateful for what you get" manner. As are you, I might add, given that neither clockworksnail nor I were saying "hurry up".
However, if I have indeed taken this the wrong way, allow me to extend my apologies to Dile. And to you, Arshes, I will try to be more subservient in the future.

i Kinda agree with Nez. I love this site and i appreciate all it does, but i know i look at sketchbooks based on the thumb attach. Without that next to your thread it really hampers your chance of someone looking at your stuff and getting good crits.
I didn't get the impression of disrespect, just the importance of that little square.
It doesn't keep US from drawing, but it really prevents us from sharing.
Either way hopefully it's fixed soon and this will be a moo point.

If I may, I'd like to offer some advice to those members worried about getting critiques of their work:
The best way to get people into your thread and looking at your work is to post in theirs. You may not have someone who get's 20+ replies coming by if you drop a "Cool work!" in their thread, but if you roll through dropping honest, helpful crits on folks, they will reciprocate.
If this doesn't work, try joining an SSB (Sketchbook Support Group), you can hook that up here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=42234&highlight=Support+group).
Be helpful in other places, like DSG (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=39), COW (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=81), CHOW (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=84), IDW (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=85), etc..
Lastly, posting your work in the Critiques section (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=59) usually nets you some sort of response.

I simply cannot get mine to work either. I've tried several things, editing it several times, and nothing seems to be doing the trick. Not having the thumbnail, I have to admit, is getting on my nerves regardless of views. It's been quite some time since I've starting the SB, hoping that sooner or later it may work, but it hasn't.

I'm sorry, I have no idea why it isn't working for you.

Mine hadn't worked for a while, but I eventually found a way to have it consistently work.
Using the CA attachment manager, you have to attach your appropriately sized/formatted thumbnail image to the first post of your sketchbook thread. Make sure it is the only image attached in your first post. Having images other than the avatar seems to befuddle it. After this it may take an hour or two to actually update.
Hope that works for someone other than me. Give it a shot.
