Hey All,

I am not sure what will come of this, but wanted to open things up the the community here to opportunity. I have been brainstorming on ways for artists within the community to stay independent regardless of how the community is doing. Here is one of the ideas.

Are you an artist with something to teach and the skills to do it well? If so, now a good time for you and the community to benefit from it. This is a new way for artists to both support the community and be supported by it. We believe artists who help in the community should be able to find financial independence, and also wish to help promote the artists within conceptart.org, who are doing a great job and deserve tto be promoted around the world. ConceptArt.Org uses download funds to continue to build the site, improve education, and invest in the future of art through education.

Tutorial videos are easily created if you have the skills to make quality art. This is another way for those of skill to see their ideas, their teachings, and their work reach a global audience and at the same time help improve the world of art and their ability to make it financially.

ConceptArt.Org is now accepting quality submissions for the downloadable training library we are building exclusively here on the site. You may submit your content to me directly at jmanley@massiveblack.com Videos must NOT be released to the public for CA to sell them in our library of educational content.

The basics are this:

1. Create video tutorial, with voice over and render at 1024x768 resolution. Include at least 20-30 important tips on the general subject including commentary about what is going on in your head as you make the work. Be sure that any use of tools are highlighted or mentioned during the process so others can follow along.

a. video tutorials can be created using camtasia and then edited. Voice-over can be completed either during the recording or after it has been edited if you desire.

2. Submit video tutorial to ConceptArt.Org for approval. If approved, we will send you a contract outlining the process for payment, including profit sharing and distribution information. You may also submit your idea, prior to making it, along with some samples of the work you are doing that is of a similar quality. CA will approve final submissions but are open to providing input to professionals looking to do this.

3. See your work reach all corners of this massive community and watch others improve because of it. We will send newsletters announcing your teachings to the artists throughout the site, and help you promote your good name that way.

Video tutorials can be various lengths with final time frames of around 50 to 90 minutes being best. Shorter videos may also be submitted for sale at a lower price point, to be determined by ConceptArt.Org.

Longer videos should be broken into parts in terms of what is being taught so that they can still be downloaded easily and understood well.

Please let me know if you have questions here in the thread. If you are still a beginner, this is not the thread or opportunity for you. If you are doing professional or strong quality work and have teachings to share, this is a great way to have an impact here and take advantage of the high traffic and promotion associated with the community.

If you are creating videos from scratch, please take a look at the current http://media.massiveblack.com/ download library to be sure that you are not doing something that has been done (ala perspective by Carl Dobsky).

Best and thanks,

Jason Manley

That seems like an awesome idea! There are so many absolutely amazing artists here that I would love to see a tutorial from.

I'm also working professionally as a concept artist but I doubt I'd have the balls for something like this.

Great idea Jason!

what about pricing? what will a 90 minutes vid cost in comparison to a 10 minutes one?

Be aware of the fact that this still is the internet and ppl will share the vids on other sites. Knowing how much you hate that you might want to consider the prices. I for one don't mind buying quality material but the fact remains that sharing will happen.

Looking forward to seeing this happen and hope a lot of those amazing artists that inspire us will contribute to this, not only with digital media but also traditional.

What a great announcement Jason. Already some artists that could do this come to mind. Can't wait to see what comes of this.

thanks...we do not currently sell ten minute vids, not to say that could not happen if the content was right....and each will have it's price set based on what has been done so far.

You could make a 30-min video that consisted of 3 10-min vids of "quick tips."

Wow this is a great idea, and indeed a great way to help the community.

I hope this one will have a good take of, this creates a lot of opertunities for the individual artist.

You can expect one from me in about 3 years ;)

I don't know if I have the know-how, expertise or the cojones to teach something but I look at it this way. If people like my image, it's not like i'm teaching but more like showing how I made that particular image.

I might give it a try ;)

Is just for making videos? Or is there any options for written tutorials? Cause I am currently working on some articles but don't know if I have the Charisma to pull of a video.

Hi Jason, are you looking for tutes about solid foundational and more advanced drawing and painting concepts that relate to concept art or
more along the lines of how an experienced artist creates a work from go to whoa given the tips and tricks on the way? I have looked at whats currently there in the download library and there seems to be a place for some solid classical tutes on constructional figure drawing and other painting.
More than happy to go the other route however.
