the man... the legend... Jason Manley.
its like this...
i just found out i have a rather important uni assignment due in a few hours. its an animation course, yet they want me to write a 1000 words on a creative practitioner of my choice... you would think they would ask for, gee i donno, an animation... but anyway the clock is ticking and i need info on Jason 'the man' manley.
please, if you can help me out with links, information or juicy gossip i would be very grateful. references on the sources of information would help as well.
:sungod:
cheers.

There's an interview with him on sidebarnation.com which in my opinion is pretty informative. Great stuff.

thanks guys, i've decided that getting this bio done, and handed in, on time is an impossibility.
but if anyone reading this doesn't know of manley's accomplishments, look into the guy, the links provided by these nice people are a good start.

If you say things like this it will probably be impossible.
Start reading and writing and do your homework!

yeah yeah i know.
i have been slack this first term, and have a mountain to climb to pass my courses.
but, if i may rant, it shits me that first year subjects are shared between 10 very different courses. sure it makes sense from an accountants perspective, but if i don't feel like i'm learning anything its very hard to be enthusiastic about jumping through these hoops.
i mean, i did 7 weeks of work and assessment for one subject in 3 hours. if i spent a year working towards my goal, using the knowledge found here and on the internet in general, it would be equal to 10 years at uni.
seriously, the more i think about it, the less value that piece of paper (degree) has.
I really think CA needs to start up an online course. if you had some decent tuition through a private forum (which i know you guys are capable of) and a cirtain level of quality control, you could charge decent fee's for a piece of paper :) which you could put back into the community.
and that piece of paper would be of more use to me than a degree. especially if you had high standards for passing.
just an idea from a frustrated uni student :davi:
(lol thats davi)

i dont know if i should laugh that your research consists of a lounge post or if its smart to ask for people to do your research for you.
that long email i sent on impulse after scanning your mail and misreading should solve your problem.
for the record, coro and I have decided to never ever ever do this cop out of an instructor assignment again. every time the same...peeps hoping everyone does it for them. I must have had at least a thousand of them over the years and it is all the same same same..slacking last minuters saying hey can you fill out my assignment for me? Seriously. The teachers giving out this garbage are seriously wasting the time of the pros who could be helping people who really did give a shit. That being said it is flattering to be chosen. Thanks for that.
Ten minutes of searching would have found you a shit ton of info to fill your entire essay which would maybe take a half hour to write...but alas. You did get it though...one pure stroke of luck that came from my favorite gal Jacki Oh saying to me tonight (just in general) that creatives who work hard deserve a break and appreciate it too.

heh, wow, what a kick in the balls.
never got any mail from you. this post was the first thing i did after i found out about this assignment, was supposed to supplement any information i could find out by myself. but since my uni is 2+hours bus/train/bus away, i had little hope of turning it in on time. and late assessments are unmarked.
i wasn't asking anyone to do my assignment for me. i was just trying to utilize the kindness of the community in order to gain unique sources of information.
i appreciate all you've done for us in the past, but i think you have jumped to conclusions by stereotyping me, and my situation.

Did you get the assignment set when you found out, or was it set a while ago and you just didn't give a shit to find out?

Not to split hairs, but that still sounds like having someone else do your research for you. It's still asking for information to be gathered up and presented to you. YOU doing it would have meant YOU doing some forum topic searches. At that point if you had some specific questions or specific requests for anecdotal stories, then I think the responses would have been different.
Your request didn't show any work on your part. It essentially said "I'm doing my assignment last minute. Anyone want to feed me info?" If you DID put in more work you didn't frame it that way. You can't be upset if people took it the way you presented it.

I think we should have gone with Grief's route and fed in juicy Gossip. Like Manley's fetish for fishnet stockings and purple lipstick ;)

Is odd to be the guy you were interested enough in my path to choose but not interested enough to actually spend the time to do it. :)
So you posted here and then got on a bus hoping that when you came back ca would have done your research for you. As said I dont know if I should give you a break for being smart to delegate it out, or none for slacking til the last minute.
Tell your teacher i said hello.

I still feel *very* mis-understood, but any attempt to explain my situation would just seem like i was making excuses.
thats the problem with such an imaginative community. your all vocalizing your visualizations of me, with very little reference to reality.
...but i can't deny the truth in some of the criticism here.
and to jason, i idolize you man (which is why that first post of yours hurt so bad). i know plenty about your character, but this essay required a disassociated professional tone, so i was basically trying to make a pre-CA/MB timeline of your career. I wouldn't have tried to ask for help if i could have written it from the 1st person perspective.
anyway, i still love you guys :)

The ironic thing is that karma militia probably learnt a much greater life lesson from this than doing the assignment on time would have taught him. :bashful:
