View Full Version : Who's your favorite line artist?

Sepulverture

Hey everyone!

I am starting to study lines to try to improve the quality of my own line work, and I want to know; Who is your favorite line artist? Or what is your favorite line art drawing/sketch?

I've been looking at some work by old comic book inkers, like Jack Kirby, and it's neat stuff. I think I'm learning a little just by examining the sketches. I also looked at a little concept art from Bioshock, which is also insightful.

So again, who is your favorite line artist or what is your favorite line art sketch/drawing? Let's see some pictures!

Thanks for the links and images so far guys! I can't say I dig all of the content in the drawings, however the techniques can't be argued with and I think I can learn a thing or two from looking at these.

thanks again guys! Keep them coming!

Winsor Mckay is like the all time master of the sunday comic strip. The draftmanship and imagination in his comics like "dream of the rarebit fiend" and "Little Nemo in Slumberland" are absolutely unparalleled in comic strip history. There are few artists even now that can come close to achieving what he did.

You should also check out hsi animations (available on youtube). His Little Nemo cartoon is, to my knowledge, the first thing created that would be recognizable today as a cartoon.
