Yes, this is a MUST have book!! Carlos' work is incredible. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy...and i love every page of it.

His work is super high quality, contains great designs, and the renderings are so beautiful.

Most of you have already seen his designs in many of the films out there.....just great stuff....

anyways...grab this book....

Carlos is very, very talented. You may have seen a couple of his works in past Spectrums.

I eagerly await my copy.

New to the forums. Just received my copy today, and it is my #1 art book!! I have been a fan of his work for years and have been eagerly waiting for this!!! AMAZING DESIGN AND CHARACTER ART! Going to by his DVD in Feb. also.

Another concept art book I recommend(if you can find it) is "Colorvision" by Ron Cobb. This book is another treasure in my collection.

Carlos's work is amazing

This is one book I highly recommend. He worked on the Evil Dead project here few years ago, and I look at some of the work he created that was hanging on the wall here. Awesome!

Hats off to Design Studio Press(Scott) for publishing this book

Books and Dvds covering amazing Conceptual Artists Like Carlos will help change the way we learn about art and also inspire us to reach a level of quality and design.

Thanks looking foward to Carlos's DVD as well as Scott Robertson's

Aside from Spectrum 9 and 10, your best bet outside of Monstruo to see Carlos' stuff is in The Art of MiB II... he and Sang Jun Lee (you'll see how much influence Carlos had on Sang when you see Sang's Ep III stuff) are all over that film, part of the old ILM Creature Group.

Not to beat this to death... but any aspiring or new artists want to find a copy of this as well (i.e. order it from dsp)
When you look at the sketch work, look at the draftsmanship. One of the things that shines, but gets lost in some of the color work (you know it's there, just harder to literally see) is what you're always told about the play of curves and straight lines, and the power you get from those interplays... very revealing stuff if you pay attention. Note especially the more loosely drawn images, don't get caught up in the color and pop.

Get one!

I only saw the few previews they had on the site and I thought they looked cool... but with testimonials like those I just had to order one. Can't wait to get it.
