Painter 3D (which I still have a copy of) was the first digital painting program I ever used. I posted almost the same thing 2 years ago. Basically P3D was the forerunner of Painter 5 or 6? But they dropped the 3D aspect of it obviously. It was superceded in the 3D marketplace by Discrete's Deep 3D (w/texture weapons), whom are now on v.2. Deep is an awesome product and pretty much leaves Painter 3D in the past. And paints almost just as well as Painter itself.

Hi,
I believe Painter 1, 2, 3, and 4 were the forerunners of Painter 5 and Painter 6, and later, Painter 7 and Painter 8.
As far as I know, Painter 3D was always a separate program.
