Just read my first Hellboy today. I'm hooked. So I drew this (slapped down three colors in PS):

Where could I buy a Hellboy comic? Anyway looks good, like you really caught Hellboy well, but the first thing I noticed, as chad said is that the markers are showing through. Some touchups in the black would be nice :)

They're making a Hellboy movie.
Although I'm not a fan of the comic (I've never read it), the movie looks like it might be good.

Thanks for the tip on levels, Chad. I actually did adjust them, but my PS dsiaplays things a lot darker than they are, so it looked solid black when I saved it. Looking at it now, in IE, I can see that it's not dark enough. Any tips on how to adjust the the settings in PS to match my screen?

It sounds to me that you need to adjust your monitor, it could be too dark. you want black on your screen to appear a bit grey or at least I mean so you can see the black slightly.

Rusty- i had the same problem with my monitor - i read the photoshop book and tried everything....but nada.....
i have an older phillips mon-( i love it )
anyways i fiddled around with it so much over the years that i just went back and set it to the factory defaults ..under menu settings on the monitor itself... under menu-
and badabing - you could try it-

Hey Rusty Red Robot-
I love Hellboy so I thought this was a great drawing. I really hope you don't mind, but I played with the blacks so it looked right on my monitor. If it bothers you, just say the word and down it comes immediately. Awesome work:D

Hellboy is one of the very best comics that has come out in recent years, and I am 100% for fan art, but I think your hellboy is a bit to similar to Mignola's own style.
Ron Lemen made this badass Abe some time ago, and it was really special in the hellboy way but didn't look a bit like Mognolas.
try to give your own spin to it! :chug:

Thanks for all the tips and feedback; I really appreciate it. My monitor displays thing normally; I think I need to go mess with things in PS.
PencilPunx: I don't mind at all. Thanks for showing me what it should look like :D
R_M: Thanks for the advice. I tried drawing him in my own style this first time, but it didn't look right, so it ended up more like Mignola's. I'm going to practise drawing Hellboy some more and get a good feel for him, so that I can apply my own style.
