Hey CA members!
My name is Isabella, however, you can just call me Bell. Im 15 years old and I aspire to become an Illustrator or Storyboard artist someday.
Ive been lurking here for a while, especially in the critique centre trying to pick up some stuff, but Im determined to improve in my artwork
so ive made a sketchbook yay (8
Im mainly an animal artist but Im starting to learn human anatomy - Ive got some good internet resources including Andrew Loomis' online books, but any suggestions would be awesome ;]

Okay here's just some sketches and a WIP for the moment C:
Critiques, tips, suggestions etc ARE WELCOMED AND APPRECIATED
~Thanks for looking c:

I love the little gopher in the top one, his expression is supreme! The hands seem a little too centered to me, though, with his smile so far to the left.

Your animal studies put me to shame. Great work!

Great animal sketches, but your human face anatomy could use some more studying. The best way to improve is to grab a sketchbook and go somewhere with lots of people and sketch away.

Thx for commenting on my sketchbook, your animals are looking great but your human head is lacking ^^. You should invest in a medical skull, probably one of the greatest tools in learning how to draw the head. I say medical because the "art" grade skull is anatomically incorrect and cheaper.

Keep at it~ ^^

seili: aw thanks heaps! ah yes I see what you mean about the hands, I shall see what I can do about that c:

Braintree: thanks and thats a good idea, Ill have to do that sometime C:

Tandy: you're welcome and thanks (: oh I hadn't thought of that, thanks! Im going shopping in a couple of days, I shall hunt around for a skull - and try out Braintree's suggestion as well
awesome plan B]

Some cute animal sketches, some of it looks Disney-ish. And Bridgman is another popular one for anatomy studies. Keep sketching and keep posting!

Yes, it's the summer holidays finally. Im so stoked, I get more time to myself now instead of spending every waking minute slaving over an assignment or something.
ugh it's been so lobg since Ive actually drawn something that I feel like i've forgotten how to draw.
Im also really confused about what career I want to choose...I orginally wanted to be a character designer for animation - which I still want to do - but I feel as if thats a bit of a long shot
Ive also been thinking about becoming an illustrator and/or an animator
I reckon it'd be awesome to bring a drawing to life but I dont think i could handle drawing loads of frames and stuff...ah i dont know
I've still got a few more years before I go off to University~

Here's something Ive been working on for the past few days, Im not sure what else to do with it. Suggestions would be great thankyou <33
The next is a picture of a snowman that I did on watercolour paper with diluted acrylics. I realise only now that his hat is askew. Good one Bell. Anyway, for my first attempt at that sort of painting Im actually pretty happy with it.
Critiques and suggestions are welcome as always~ Thankyou for looking

I would suggest you continue to work on your proportions and your faces. You're anatomy is greatly improving, continue to do studies, even if you only have an hour of free time a day. Draw all you can!

Alexander Obert; I'll try, sometimes the hardest thing is trying to find the motivation, and thankyou for the critique! I'll try working in those areas (:

---

It's been a while since i've updated...I hope this load of sketches will somewhat make up for it~

I hope you guys had a good Christmas too (: Or whatever else you celebrate. Mine was pretty awesome haha, my grandma always makes the most delicious food...now i have to try and exercise it all back off again xD

Anyway, onto the sketches!
Note; some of the characters/concepts are not my own, not all, but some c:

Thanks for looking!

Ahhh I have only three weeks left until school resumes D:
Im somewhat excited because Art this year will hopefully me more advanced and we'll learn alot more than last year (8

Just a few things for now~
Some loose gestures from imagination, trying to convey emotions using body language.
2 WIPs, crits are welcomed on both (: I think the girl might be a bit too small in the sketch so I'll fix that. Anything else so far??
The second is a WIP for this weeks CHOW. I don't think I'll actually submit it into the finals (Because Im too imtimidated by all the other awesome entries...not that i was planning on winning in the first place LOL) but i guess i just wanted to push myself a bit. Do a fully rendered, fully finished piece for once xD Crits on that welcome too~

Thanks for stopping by

lol THE best nutri-grain advertisement. Go watch it.

ff I went and saw Sherlock Holmes yesterday and it is so good you have to go see it. Avatar is brilliant too, the graphics are stunning @_@ The plot is pretty cliche though, but it's still amazing.

Anyway, just a quick update. A few things im working on at the moment and another progress shot of that snowflake faerie - good thing i never intended to enter it dfjhg
The little creatures are a design of my own and I call them Shrooms haha

Thanks for looking!! Crits welcomed

I LOVE the snail house! From what I can see from those drawings, I can tell it would work really good as a children's story :D

I have mixed emotions...Im happy cause i get to see everyone again but then Im dreading it becuase of all of the school work

On the bright side though, it's only a few more weeks until i can start driving!! Im super stoked about that

anyway, here's a small painting I did last night of Disney's Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
I can't wait to see the Tim Burton one (:
I used diluted acrylics on cold press paper for those who are interested

15? 15?!! You're awesome! Keep drawing, especially from real life, and you'll be amazing.

I'm not too fond of that anime-stylized stuff, but that's probably just my personal taste. I'll be back, cheers.

Your drawings display a lot of life. Now just work hard to refine your skills and I think you'll produce some very attractive designs. Keep studying and keep drawing. :painting:

Since you mentioned that animal designs are a main interest I highly recommend two books:

The Art of Kung Fu Panda (Breathtakingly good)

The Daily Zoo by Chris Ayers

One or both of these books will give you material for study and inspiration to last you a looong time. Keep up the good work. You'll get there if you persevere.
