I must learn more...this is my goal for being here, as so is everyone's I believe. My skills lie on sketching, at least I tend to keep telling myself that :) but I truly, madly want to learn digital painting. I've seen people post here wanting to do the same and have gotten really good at it thanks to the feedback they receive from these forums. I'll be starting with some school stuff and sketches, attached below. Then comes my really bad stuff in my opinion...my painting. I think the digital medium is the best thing to happen to artists so I'll definitely need to practice more to get better. I'm posting one in digital (the last one). I'm still pretty clueless in forums like these, but I think this one is one of the best. I'll keep posting in the future.
I'm ready to learn!

WOW!your stuff is amazing, truly inspirational! I am in the same situation trying to get good in digital but you are way ahead of me. That first one seems to be some sort of mantis jigsaw power tool, am I right? a combination of a power tool inspired by an insect. AWSOME! Great job.

Crickey man! Those car designs are just super, so unique, and different to just about anything I've seen. Originality is hard to come by in this sort of thing, so you're doing very well ;)

These are some buildings i was trying out...obviously still need more practice. environments scare the crap outta me. Every single one i've done has been bad...but it never hurts to keep trying. Anyway here's these.. any suggestions are always welcome.

I took an art center class last summer in pasadena...a night course named Intermediate transportation design. it was very cool and i got to see a lot of immense talent there. Here are a few things I did in traditional media (pastel, color pencil, ink)...

Okay some quick thanks:

Halcyone83 - thanks for the jigsaw comments! Maybe if i do good on the presentation, it will be real! Woopee...mosquito-jigsaws for everyone!

ru4it- no u rock dude!

Bagg- hey nice IDW submissions by the way! How do i get my ideas, you ask? buying a shitload of old war books...no really. and tractor books. Inspiration comes from everything.

polydrawer- thanks. i get the line work techniques specifically from Michael Turner, longtime comic book artist. RIP man, youre still the best.

BazookaJoe-hey love that gum...anyway, thanks for the comments, but i am in no way better than anyone man. its all you guys who help me out, believe me!

jackpot_anjr90- its all Matrix influence, dude

kischi-thanks for the stars man. my friend just got into Art center so maybe you'll see him there...his work is in Deviant under shiramune. Awesome guy.

PeNcIl ReBeLlIoN-thanks for those comments, man! i try hard to get people what they want to see so i'm glad its workin

localfatheaded-i never thought of it that way, actually. i'll start trying this method from now on since it seems like its working for me. thanks man

Cheeseitnow!!!-i want cheese!! and thanks for commenting!

FightingSeraph-i'm keeping that in mind about the enviros. keep coming back and you'll for sure see some in the near future

2buiart-thanks dude!

Diverse-what i wanna know is what kinda monster ?

Okay, so below i'm trying a whole different technique with just near solid brushes in photoshop. each one was done in order, with the next one just flipping around or modifying the last one, kinda like an ongoing series. i wanna continue this thing for a while. in the end, or at least the ones i like the most, i'll render them neater. tell me what you think peeps! thanks for lookin

holy cow, how do you draw all this tech stuff? Is it from imagination or did you start by like... drawing real life tech stuff? You have really nice line work and detail.

Here are my final renderings of the Oblique Jigsaw System. The model was made in Maya, with a few components inside the model made in Rhino. For the final presentation day, we had to make a physical model (made of polystyrene, clay, grey foam (renshade, i think), gesso, and covered in primer). It was hell---I shoulda 3d printed it instead!! Aarrgh! Also what was required were poster printouts and a slideshow of the renderings on my laptop. Everybody's final designs were so awesome, so it was very inspiring being there. Anyway, its done, I'm outta school for the summer and I'm soooooo gonna enter the IDW contest "mechanical man"!! hope you like the jigsaws!

Inspirational work, the inking has this rugged, dirty, yet slick flowing feel to it, reminds me of comic inking, say witchblade/spawn, mixed with cool designs and ideas it works really well.

Hey there, everyone! Here's my entry for the IDW 100 contest. So far it seems Daniel or xgabo will win...it's exciting to see these two run neck to neck! Voting ends Saturday so maybe you can be the tiebreaker! As for me, well, i currently have 7 very much-appreciated votes. It was tough to decide if I wanted a truly industrial type robot vs. a smooth, futuristic and refined girl-bot like my submission below. I went with the girl since I figured it'd be the only one up there (I think there was just one other girl-bot so kudos to that guy for doing it!) Anyway, I wanna thank all those who have commented on the piece---pretty positive stuff so far! Thanks guys! Here's the piece:

Here's the link to the contest. Vote for me! :) http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=158769

At the beginning of my sketchbook, I posted I wanted to do landscapes. I'm gettin there...it's been a struggle but I need to keep on practicing. They're fun! I've also finished out a few more 3D models, character designs, robots, cars, and more! I'll come back to post them soon. Until then, I remain the :devilminer: . Thanks for the great comments so far!

Okay, so here's what I've been up to lately. Any comments or critiques are appreciated---I will come back again with another model based on another of my sketches. Or if you have a suggestion on which sketch I should pick to model out, be sure to check out my website (http://devilminer.com) and let me know. Thanks for looking---great work everybody! Keep it up!
