I'm still on my search for an art college. So far, Sheridan is in the lead.... but two other schools have caught my attention. OCAD (Ontario college of art and design) and Memorial University in Newfoundland. Does anyone have any info on either, the sites were down when I last checked them.
Another question is, when you people took your various programs, what did they include? Most of the other schools I've seen teach photography and sculpture, as opposed to Sheridan's full on illustration. Did you find this "extra" programs usefull?

well, i know some friends who go to ocad, i think
ocad is more renowned as graphic design school.
i don't think they really "draw" as much as sheridan students do. may be i'm biased, because i go to sheridan...^^;
yeah i'd better talk about what i really know..^^;
good thing about sheridan is, they open 24/7, so
you can stay in school as long as you want.
(and if you get into animation, you will get your own personal desk.)
they have open life drawing classes "every day" during school
semester. you can just walk in, and draw. illustration and animation, each program has its own studio and open life drawing session. as for animation, their space is kinda limited right now, because they accepted 120people this year.
they might open second life drawing session next year.
school is fun. sometimes we bring down our own computers,
and hook up all the computers..and you know what i will say...
...yeah we do some counter strike, or play halo(x-box) on the big beam projector screen. you can really enjoy your school life and develop your skills at the same time...^^;

well, i think those things obviously will help you understand some sort of 3d form or compositional stuffs. actually, we made our own 3d sculpture using clay base on what we designed in character design class last year....it was fun, and
useful.
michaelangelo considered himself a sculptor not a drawer.
(he's really the greatest)
and also many good painters were also good sculptors
at the same time. if you don't have strong understandings of 3d structure, you're never gonna produce good drawings.
i think photopgraphy is too, it will help you understand
space and compositional kinda stuffs..

try animation this year.
