-Here's the latest from my end. Starting to get quicker at using Painter which is nice. I'm not sure how many hours this took. Less then 10 I think.

I'm pretty happy with the way it is. But I'm thinking about making the background monochromatic, to make the Captain stand out a bit more. What do you think? In any case, I had alot of fun on this, hope you enjoy-http://home.comcast.net/~jsjoding/Captain.JPG

Hey Davey!

Good stuff, you went to a lot of effort on those cannons, they look like you referenced them from the real thing. Adding some wear and would help a bit, as would adding contrast to the whole image (I've heard that many times myself).

Just to get a quick idea, fiddle with the contrast values in Painter, then work towards similar contrast (once you like the look) as you paint.

Your character seems off balance, so dont be shy to use reference to get figure and balance correct (hey, if it works for large guns).

I like the brush strokes showing on his jacket, and there seems to be a story here, which I always enjoy seeing.

Keep that brush moving!
