Hello,
Welcome to what is to be my lifework:p
To Improve my drawing skills, I thought up this project of drawing 1000 soldiers! I think I can learn alot from it, especially anatomy things and clothing stuff. I will try to make 2 soldiers a week at least. This is gonna be long :D
Ok so this is the first one. It is also my first experience with drawing "realistic" and the first time I drew something from a picture. It was kinda hard because I had no experience, and because the picture had bad lighting. Not blaming the photographer, because it was war :D And the hand looks a bit odd, because he was holding the phone kinda weird. Anyways C&C heavily welcome:

It's a great idea! But you're going to have to push yourself harder than that. One soldier a day at least. Seriously... better even 2 or 3 a day... just my 2 cents. Peace

@lioness: I dunno why soldiers, I guess there where so many types of them, and I did'nt feel like drawing nude models all the time, and each soldiers has his own feel.
So here is my number 2 man, his name..... nr.2 He had is face painted black, was a member of the 101st airborne squad. Beats me why he had the number 23 sign. I did this one much quicker than the first cuz of time issues. Which is noticable, but i'm quite happy with the results. Weird lightning again.

It's looking good, 1000, that's a lot of soldiers.
Are you going to do them all in pencil or can we expect some other medias too? And will they all be ww2, or is any soldier acceptable? Just curious.

@OLSEN: I will do a wide variety of soldiers, from starshiptroopers to roman warriors, done with a different mediums, these are just to get a hang on.
Till now, I've only used Photoshop to resize my images :p , but now I tried to color my first image with it, I did'nt spent an awfull lot of time on it, but i got a first grip on the whole coloring thing with mouse.

Phew it's been 4 months but I'm back, and I'm accepted to an art school in the netherlands :D From now on i'm gonna post more again, did'nt had the time. But my motivation/time is back and more than ever! Ok as i'm more serious now, i am going to do some studies, before I do more soldiers (believe me they WILL come :D )
These are the first stills I ever did. First one is a wire cutter, I was hard because of the chromed surface, and the handle was some see through plastic stuff. http://img3.photobucket.com/albums/v12/sigma_atf/wirecutter.jpg
the second one is an ink potion. I also considered this one hard because of the glass with a black fluid in it. I should have done the letters more accurate. http://img3.photobucket.com/albums/v12/sigma_atf/inktpotje.jpg
The last is a more loose one of a girl. For some reason I always tend to spend a very long time on the jawline, I never get that right. And I see now the eye is way off http://img3.photobucket.com/albums/v12/sigma_atf/vr1.jpg
C&C welcome as always :) http://images.fok.nl/s/static.gif

Nice work but a 1000! thats a little crazy i think you should start with a smaller number. Oh and by the way the first soldier is the best so far.
